About The Balkan Beasts (DJ Delay & Systa bb) are the premier balkan music dj team in Australia. They hosted "The Good, The Bad & The Balkan" at the Horse Bazaar in Melbourne on the first Thursday of every month from 2005 until 2007. Their new monthly home is at Bar Open in the heart of Fitzroy. Cutting edge and traditional tunes are spun - from Fanfare Ciocarlia to Rambo Amadeus.... Taraf De Haidouks to [dunkelbunt]..... Saban Bajramovic to Postolar Tripper etc. We host the best Balkan/Gypsy bands from Melbourne and further afield. Balkan clubbing at it's best! The parties involve rousing tunes and liberal distribution of vodka shots. Don't count on going to work the next morning! Music We believe that Balkan/Gypsy/Roma music knows no boundaries, absorbing and re-interpreting styles as it chooses. Yet, it's spirit is unmistakable. So, we play music that also has Klezmer, Turkish, Russian, Middle Eastern, Indian, Greek etc influences. DJ Delay & Systa bb are both PBSFM veterans who continue to scour the aether for new sounds. Balkan Beast Elektrobalkan Beast Gigs/Live The Balkan Beasts have held the launch parties for The Amsterdam Klezmer Band remixed, Fanfare Ciocarlia's Queens & Kings & Electric Gypsyland 2 Albums; toured [dunkelbunt] + supplied their DJ skills at the Bellingen Global Carnival '07 & in support for the dub loving French doods: Lèo. Delay spun out at Balkanbeats Berlin, Club !Deladap Vienna & Russ Jones' Globo Loco-London in '06. FWF London, Balkanbeats Berlin & Les Nuits Tsigane, Paris in '07. Elektrobalkan DJ Delay (aka Beam Up) has also remixed: Dunkelbunt (Smile On Your Face EP) & Municipale Balcanica (Gypsy Beats & Balkan Bangers Too)
