Balkansemblet Award winning Norwegian band, performing fresh and exciting Balkan inspired music. Balkansemblet started performing in the late seventies with their own version of Balkan sounds. The music was traditional, with improvisational elements, and often inspired by the playing of Gypsy masters. Balkansemblet were awarded "Spellemannprisen" (the Norwegian equivalent to the Grammy) in 1985 for the album "Balkan Samlet". And now, following a few years of silence, the band is back in business. Their new album "Curved Grooves" is now available from www.emcd.no
