Bio
Bio Oregon singer/songwriter Chris Morrisette's career path has taken him from the Pacific Northwest to New York & Los Angeles ultimately to back to his native Portland. Along with fellow songwriter Robert Lusson, Chris was signed to a recording and publishing contract in 1976 by Arne Frager of Spectrum Studio in Venice, California. In 1978, Chris co-founded Radio Child with David Reeves, recording and performing for several years into the early 80s. Chris returned to Oregon, started a family and worked on his craft for several years. In 1994 he founded Songwriter's Showcase at the Rainy Day Café in Eugene. This highly successful series provided the opportunity to work with some of the gifted singer/songwriters of the area. He also performed and recorded original material with the band, Purity Club. In 1996, Chris moved to Portland Oregon, where he joined the Portland Songwriter's Association, becoming part of the singer/songwriter community, winning awards and garnering solid reviews as a solo performer. Chris has worked in the music industry for The Oregon Symphony, Allegro Music Group, a major Independent music distributor. Among the notables with whom Chris has written songs or shared the stage over the years are Lonnie Turner (Steve Miller Band) Frank Reckard (Emmylou Harris) Patrick Doro (founder, Portland Songwriter's Association) and the late, great Dave Carter. In 2005 Chris established King of the Yard Music, a production and recording facility. He has produced a series of kids records with the Flying Colors Band, spoken word projects and in 2009 produced a track for Sudan Hope's "Without a Voice" featuring his daughter, Kay Morrisette. Chris is currently developing a variety of creative projects with pianist/composer Ethan Hamburg as well as with his brother, Minnesota singer/songwriter Garth Morrisette. Chris Morrisette has become the singer/songwriter he is today as a result of diligence and patient persistence. Chris possesses an unshakable belief that God's purpose for him has been a constant through times of darkness and light. There is something honest at the heart of his music, something which desires truth as its foundation. King of the Yard Music©2011 -
