For some, it takes decades to discover where their interests lie, but for Balla Toine he discovered his love of music at the age of seven. While playing with his siblings, the third child of four created a verse for a song they were recording on a tape player that they entitled “The Black Man Strap.” He says, “It was nothing serious and my verse wasn’t any good, but from that very moment I just fell in love with music for some reason.”

     After the creation of that first verse, Balla Toine began writing as a means of emoting. He preferred writing in his “rhyme book” to other’s choices of diaries and confidants, which helped the Miami native express himself and sharpen his lyrical skills. He was introduced to the owner of Zoned Out Entertainment during his junior year of high school and began recording in their studio. Soon after, Balla Toine became a member of the rap group Vulture Click. He has since made music with producer Havens Frederick, owner of Music Vision Productions, and now is in pursuit of music as a solo artist along with his DJ, DJ KillaMike.

     Balla Toine indulges in an array of musical genres and has one simple theory: “As long as it sounds good, and I can relate to it, I’ll jam it.” He credits Soulja Slim, Kid Rock, The Hot Boys, Limp Bizkit and 8 Ball & MJG as being some of his musical influences. These diverse influences lend to the versatility that Balla Toine embodies in his music as illustrated in his current single “Cloud 9.” As he finalizes his upcoming mixtape and prepares to share it with the world, Balla Toine continues to thrive off the love of music he first found as a child.
