Producing thought provoking and original works which illustrate the face of human suffering and the human condition...
Ballet Deviare was founded in 2003 and is located in New York City. Unbound by restrictive standards of tradition, Ballet Deviare was created and founded by Laura Kowalewski (Co-Director and choreographer) and Andrew Carpenter (Co-Director) with the intention of broadening the scope of ballet today, while providing audiences with original choreographic works. The vocabulary of movement that Laura Kowalewski draws from includes classical ballet, modern, butoh, and heavy metal "posturing". Segments of the company with the band Arsis have been featured on MTV2's Headbanger's Ball.
