COOKEVILLE -- The Ballinger Family Band, made up of Dale and Kris Ballinger and their 24-year-old son Ethan, has recently compiled a new CD entitled "The Ballinger Family Band". .... Dale and Kris Ballinger are the founding members of the Cluster Pluckers, a bluegrass/folk/Americana band that has toured the world, sharing their music for more than 20 years. Within that time, the band has also made numerous TV and radio appearances, sharing the stage with such music greats as John Hartford, Vassar Clements, Chet Atkins and Riders in the Sky, to name a few. .... When he's not playing with the family band, Ethan Ballinger is a touring musician, working with Missy Raines and The New Hip, playing from coast to coast and promoting their newly-released CD. He also plays with Megan McCormick, a singer/songwriter out of Nashville. Additionally Ethan is a frequent collaborator with Matt Flinner, and has just released a solo album called "Wish Upon A Falling Star". .... "On Friday and Saturday of Easter weekend 2009, Ethan booked some studio time in Nashville for the three of us to record four or five songs that we do together as The Ballinger Family Band. The idea was to get some songs down that we enjoy doing and have a demo if we need one, but mostly it was just for us to have to remember this time in our musical journey with Ethan," said Kris. "It had been a long time since Dale and I had been in the studio and we were a little nervous about it. But when we got started we had a blast, so we just went with it and recorded more songs, enough to have a full CD of music. We called a couple of other musicians that play with us from time to time and got them to add some parts and we got vocals done and even did a file-sharing thing and got my sister, Kay, up in Michigan, to sing on four songs that we thought a third-part harmony would sound cool on. Ethan is producing it for us and doing a great job. It's been a fun, spontaneous project." ....
