Bio
.. Welcome to Balthrop, Alabama. Founded in 1847 in Alabama's Iron Belt. Things to do while you visit: eat at Bompa and Gigi's Late Nite Diner, get your mail posted at the Dairy Queen located on Henry Street, and then find out all about us at a town meeting held the first Monday of every month at 6pm in Elmore's Barber Shop. Hope to see you soon! .... You might have heard that Balthrop was once a booming steel town. However, these days it has relaxed into an easier pace, providing a home to a close-knit community of shopowners, innkeepers, handymen, farmers, students, and a milkman. We do a pretty good job of keeping each others' secrets. Or so you may have heard... .. In fact, the band Balthrop, Alabama was formed in early 2006 in Brooklyn, New York by Alabama-born songwriter-siblings Pascal and Lauren Balthrop and eight or nine of their musically-inclined neighbors. They get together every so often to sing songs about dead people in love... .. .. ..What folks have been saying about the town:.... ....“An impressive début double album…and their approach to performing is equally inventive…”.. ..—The New Yorker.... ....“Elaborate shows which feature the 10 or so members dressed as the aw-shucks residents of a fictional Southern town…breezy, melody-driven pop”.. ..—Village Voice.... ...."What great fun in the form of a band called Balthrop, Alabama!".. ..—Rainn Wilson (of The Office).... ....“Sweetly crooned loved songs inspired by apocalypse — a last kiss before the big bang…”.. ..—Memphis Flyer.... ....“Always melody conscious, with a solid stash of hooks… enough people to fill a school board.”.. ..—Crawdaddy.... ....“Eclectic — with songs of love, loss, and escape…great use of shared male/female vox…”.. ..—My Mix Tapes.... ....“Like a raucous ad-hoc town meeting where everyone brings an instrument to play…”.. ..—Future Montgomery.... ....“I’ve heard of the ‘concept album’, but this appears to be a ‘concept band’…”.. ..—Take Five, Asheville.... ....“…like the touring company of ‘Barack Obama’s Rent’…”.. ..—Black & White, Birmingham...... -

IMAGINE THE FEELING OF KNOWING YOU "MADE IT" IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY How would that change your life? Or the life of those around you? I'LL LET YOU KNOW A SECRET; one of the main reasons main stream artist's are so successful is they have a great marketing team on their side. That's why you sometimes see "unknown" artist's with way more talent remain an unknown. They don't have a good marketing team working for them.
