Bam Bam
Buddha Biography
Bam Bam Buddha (Neel Majumdar) was born to play the drums. Starting at the age of three, Bam Bam has progressed from the tabla (Indian drum) to western percussion instruments. In high school and college he received multiple awards, recognitions, and scholarships, which lead to his career as a professional percussionist. Finding his niche in nightclubs, Bam Bam’s first performances were in the summer of 2001, playing in small venues in the suburbs of Chicago. In October 2001, Ala Carte Entertainment hired Bam Bam for his first major gig at the legendary Whitestar Lounge, for their Pimp N’ Ho Party. Impressed by what they saw, Bam Bam was hired as the resident percussionist every Friday (playing alongside B96 DJs: Julian Jumpin Perez, Speed, and Flipside) and monthly on Saturdays. (He also maintained a residency every Tuesday at the Alumni Club in Crystal Lake).
This opened the doors for Bam Bam Buddha as he continued to obtain positions all around Chicago. After being approached to do a guest spot at Karma Nightclub, he earned a bi-weekly residency on Saturdays with DJ Dannyboy. In December Bam Bam took a weekly resident spot at Spybar with DJ Andre Harris and Martin “Boogieman” Luna. New Year’s Eve was spent performing at Transit Nightclub and he took-up a monthly position. As if his plate wasn’t already full, Vision Nightclub opened in Chicago and they approached Bam Bam to be a resident, which he accepted. And 2002 also saw the production of his first CD with is friend, DJ DOC, called “Progressive Karma.”
Taking to the road seemed to be the next step for Bam Bam Buddha and that he did. Performing at Pure Nightclub Milwaukee with DJ Diesel only brought more opportunities for Bam Bam. Not only did he receive a monthly spot at Pure Nightclub in Milwaukee and Deep Six in St. Louis, but he also began playing Aqua, Rain, Co2 Ultra Lounge, and Ladybug all in Milwaukee. With the recent and sudden demand for Bam Bam Buddha, he was asked to perform at the Chicago Scene Anniversary Party at the Drake Hotel alongside Jemell Geronimo, and Porn on the 4th of July at White Star Lounge. He also did other guest spots at various nightclubs throughout Chicago. In the summer of 2003, Bam Bam was asked to be a part of the opening act for the B96 Summer Bach alongside acts such as Ludacris, Lil Kim, Da Brat, Chingy and many others. Over that year, Bam Bam would continue to travel to Milwaukee and St. Louis regularly and released his second CD called “Feel The Drums” with DJ Wizzkid. He would continue to be booked every weekend at numerous venues in Chicago.
In 2004 and 2005, Bam Bam continued his popularity and received residencies at Ontourage, Sauce, Hard Drive, Enclave, and more. He also traveled to LA and performed at Club Vegas and took his sound international as he performed in Puttaparthi, India in front of over 250,000 spectators. The release of his third CD, “Rockin Da Beatz” (with DJ Wizzkid) came in 2004. Bam Bam also performed at a charity event for Lance Armstrong Foundation with DJ Greg Bauer that raised over $60,000, an event he was honored to do!
In 2006, Bam Bam Buddha teamed up with DJ Dannyboy, also from Chicago. The pair took their unique blend of sound on the road and played Club Nico in Omaha, NE, as well as the legendary Winter Music Conference in Miami, FL, performing at Nocturnal and Santo Restaurant. While at the conference, Bam Bam also performed with Donald Glaude, Tacodisco, Electrik Haze, JJ Flores, and Steve Smooth. More travel came for Bam Bam as he headed back to India twice to perform in front of crowds of over 500,000 people, as well as with the Sai Symphony Orchestra. Upon his return to Chicago, Bam Bam Buddha received a bi-weekly residency at Spybar, and also started performing in other venues such as: Buzz, Sound-bar, Moda, and Tequila Roadhouse.
After being approached by producer Russ Harris, Bam Bam played percussion on “Drums In The Club” which featured DJ Keri, famed playboy DJ. Enstion Records signed the track and Warner Brothers Records picked up worldwide distribution. Receiving worldwide recognition, “Drums In The Club” was deemed one of the top dance tracks of 2007. Several remixes have been done by such artists as: DJ Dannyboy, DJ Flipside and the Static Brothers, Mixin’ Marc, and Alex Peace. “Drums In The Club” hit the music charts worldwide and peaked at 5 on the billboard danceplay chart as well as 2 on the Canadian Billboard TV Dance Chart. It was also ranked at 41 of the top 100 dance charts of 2007 from about.com. Drums In The Club was also put on ITunes as well as Billboard.
In 2007, Bam Bam Buddha continued to expand his horizons. Due to the popularity of Drums In The Club, he was able to take his sound to other cities and new venues across the country. Bam Bam was asked to perform at the Wet Grooves Party at the Winter Music Conference with JJ Flores and Steve Smooth. He also performed with Fedde Le Grande, DJ Scotty Boy and David Delano. He also perfomed at Nocturnal with JJ Flores. Over Labor Day Weekend, he was booked to perform at Rehab at The Hard Rock Hotel, but due to technical difficulties, he was unable to. He was asked though to perform on the main stage of Empire Ballroom and performed with Scooter and Lavelle and Joey Mazzola. He got to perform a private party at the famed Hugh Hefner Suite in the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas. Bam Bam obtained new residencies in the Chicago Land Area at venues such as Reserve, Bourbon Street and Ruby, while still performing at Enclave, Spy Bar and Moda and numerous other venues. He also obtained a monthly residency at Dolce in St. Louis.
2008 was another great year for Bam Bam in bringing his sound across the country. He established residencies at Mannequin Nightclub, RedNo 5, Energy Thursdays, Republic and continued to play at different venues across Chicago and the country including Lotus Lounge, Current Nightclub, Josephine and the famed Fur Nightclub all in Washington DC. He also performed with B96 Mixmaster, Dan Morrell, at the grand opening of S Nightclub in Holland, Michigan
and made his debut at the legendary Boom Boom Room @ Green Dolphin and performed with DJ Halo (San Francisco).
Establishing his name nation-wide, Bam Bam Buddha is taking his show to the next level and has played with hundreds of DJ’s across the nation. Some of the reknown DJs Bam Bam has performed with include: Fedde Le Grande, BT, Donald Glaude, Tocadisco, DJ Antoine, David Delano, DJ Halo, Juan Mclean, Scotty Boy, JJ Flores, Steve Smooth, Woody McBride, Scooter and Lavelle, Joey Mazzola, Alex Peace, Mixin Marc, Tony Arzadon, DJ Mikey Swift, DJ Flipside, Dino G, Lego, Diz, Just Joey and many more.

Wrigley is our 4-year old Chihuahua and just yesterday went under a neurological surgery to repair a ruptured disk in his spine. He is suffering from Intervertebral Disc Disease. I love this dog with all my heart, and I am trying everything to find a way to pay for his treatment. Wrigley's testing, treatment and care is estimated to total around $4700. Wrigley is currently in the intensive care unit at VCA Aurora Animal Hospital.
A fundraiser had been started and donations can be made through PayPal via his website. Please help us if you can, even a little will help!
All donations to this fund will be used to pay VCA Aurora Animal Hospital, for the care of Wrigley.
