Doug Moore and Roger Remillard Jr. formed BR in late 1997 in New Mexico. Roger was a Chaplain at the Southern New Mexico State Penitentiary in Las Cruces, NM. Meanwhile, Doug was serving 8-10 years for involuntary manslaughter, narcotics possession with intent to deliver and one count of public lewdness. In December, 1997 Roger faked a heart attack allowing for Doug to escape.
While on the lamb, Doug hitchhiked through the Southwest making his way East. Doug panhandled his way though many towns and small communities, often exchanging sexual favors for food, lodging or transportation. Along the way he met a young Amish man named Kenneth. Kenneth let Doug stay in his family barn and in turn Doug told Kenneth stories of fast times and loose women in a far off Windy City. Kenneth renounced his simple ways and asked to come along...
Doug and Kenneth met Roger in Chicago on New Years Eve 1997. The trio shared a bottle of sake and wrote three acoustic songs, hence BR came to fruition.
