The Bay Area Multicultural Media Academy (BAMMA) is a free two-week residential program built around developing journalism skills and careers for Bay Area high school students. The program will take place from June 15-June 28 at SF State.
BAMMA is dedicated to providing youth with opportunities to develop journalism skills that will translate into media careers and more inclusive news coverage.
Alright so given the fact that BAMMA C/o 2008 hasn't posted any comments on the myspace I will.
Where to start? there is so much I can talk about, but I can't becuase its huge.
BAMMA basically can change your life, it can broaden our horizons and I know it sounds cheesy but it can. Through |BAMMA| you take valuable journalism skills and you get to meet different people from around the BAY AREA!
This is when it gets good, when you meet the people and you get close to them, later when it comes to an end it gets hard to let go, trust me I know. =]
BAMMA is truly a remarkable experience I wish I can still be in the program doing the usual routine. Starting with AARON knocking on our dorm room doors.
From the bottom of my heart I can truly say I miss BAMMA I miss every little tiny thing about it.
I can't let go of it, its kept somehwere, where it will never be erased in my heart!
I LOVED MY EXPERIENCE AT BAMMA and I'm DARN sure anyone will too.
I'm surprised I never got around to doing this... but I figured I'd share it here, yeah?
Since the beginning of the 2007 - 2008 I've been the editor in chief of my school's newspaper, and we aren't doing half bad considering all the money we don't have and all the students that don't want to be in the class :)
I'll stop by some day with the two issues that it took me an entire semester to print to thank you guys in person!
THANK YOU THANK YOU BAMMA for the wonderful experience! :) A blessing you are, BAMMA. A true blessing.
Great News! Brittany and Vicki won the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund's awards for writing and photography!! There are 25 programs like BAMMA across the country, and only 4 writers and 2 photographers won. CONGRATULATIONS ladies!
One more thing: we want you to come speak at Boldfaced Journalism! It's our conference for high school students and teachers on 1/12/08, and we want you to be shining examples for them. So sign up already! (email Amanda or call the office)

"...they were fired up by a shared belief that journalism could help make the world better, a chokingly poignant idea in these shockingly cynical times. That may be naïve, but idealism is a form of resistance."--By MANOHLA DARGIS This is in reference to Daniel & Mariane Pearl, portrayed in "A Mighty Heart." here's the link to the whole article: http://movies2.nytimes.com/2007/06/22/movies/22migh.html
THe video turned out great! I am not big obn the song, but it matches perfectly, especially in certain parts. I am really glad that you were able to capture a little of the Vicky dance lessons.
Though it says "AFI" I think that this one is nice looking, very clean. I almost went with it. http://www.killerkiwi.net/myspace/layouts/preview/a-fire-inside
I'd like to make the page look a little more interesting, I'm not sure how to do that without making it look extremely tacky or too busy...any tips from all you BAMMA alum/MySpace pros would help...
