Dolores Delirio is one the most important rock bands in Peru. They formed in 1994 with Jeffrey Parra (guitar), Josue Vasquez (drums and lyrics), Jose Inoñan (bass) and Ricardo Brenneisen (voice and lyrics). Their sound is a mix of hard rock and eighties darkwave.
In 1995, they released their debut album "Cero" which contained their hits "A Cualquier Lugar", "Carmen" and "Viento Satelite". "Cero" is considered one of the greatest rock albums in Peru.
In 1997, Miami based Barbarosa Music released their second "Dolores Delirio" (better known to fans as "Bajo Un Envenenado Cielo Plateado"). Their hits from this album included "Locura", "Timidez" and "Aprendizaje". Around this time they were considered the best live band in Peru, due to their moving and emotive live shows.
A year later, guitarist Jeffrey Parra died in a car accident. Jeffrey is still remembered as one of the most talented rock musicians of his generation. The band moved on with Juan Carlos Anchante as lead guitarist.
In 1999, the band released "Uña y Carne", a collection of greatest hits and unreleased tracks. In the same year WEA Latina released their Latin Rock Tribute to The Cure, "Porque no puedo ser tu", which included the Dolores Delirio's version of "M".
In 2000, they signed to Sony Music Peru and released their third album "Raíz". In this album the band shifted from their regular sound into new and changeling territories, in which they experimented with electronic sounds and loops. Their hits from this album included "Silencio", "Orilla" and "Pendulo".
In 2007, lead singer Ricardo Brenneisen, split from the band. An event that for many fans meant the dissolution of Dolores Delirio, but the band continued with new singer Luis Sanguinetti. At the end of the year, they released a four-song EP called "Histeria".
In March 2008, they released their first studio album in eight years called "Plastico Divino". The album includes, "Histeria", "Ultramar" and
"Cielo-Infierno". "Plastico Divino" showed that Dolores Delirio is a band in constant evolution and that they do not rest in their past achievements. During 2008 and the better part of 2009, the band continuously toured around Peru's main cities, until May 2009 when Sanguinetti left the band.
In September 2009, Ricardo returned as lead vocalist. This turn of events is marking a new re-birth. A start from cero. .
