Antaean's last myspace accumulated over 12,000 plays and 20,000 views in lass than six months!
The band was formed in 2007, and went through several lineup changes until finally settling on its four final members. Founded by lead song writer, vocalist and guitarist, Ben Schwarzwalder, along with drummer and pianist, Mark Maslowski carried on with the band. Shortly thereafter, guitarist Eric Morgan and bassist Diego Villasmil set instantly with the vision of the founding members adding their unique style to the already well crafted songs. Looking forward, Antaean continues to feed their creative fire by composing unique and attractive songs for themselves and their audience. Their ability to please a crowd has been well known by their loyal fans for almost a year now, and having headlined and played many venues in Ohio like the Alrosa Villa, Skully's Music Diner, Oldfield's, the Newport, House of Crave, The Lodge Bar, Gibby's, and countless more, Antaean has left its mark progressing itself to one of the best bands in Ohio.
"Improving every time we play is one of the most important things we try to do as a band," said singer and guitar player Ben Schwarzwalder, "there's always room for improvement, we just try to find every little thing to perfect." With dedication like this its easy to see why the band is going places. In July of 2008 they will be releasing their EP entitled "This Road" which is a much anticipated fallow up to their basement acoustic recordings. Mark Maslowski pointed out, "it was a huge improvement going from those basement recordings to a full EP. With acoustic tracks there isn't that much you can really do with them, but on our EP, we really got to use our full range of talents." These talents include Maslowski's melodic piano riffs that accompany the tracks of "This Road" and "Stolen Away."
With the upcoming debut EP also comes the new and improved website on antaeanband.com. "We have been kicking around some ideas for the website and its coming along nicely," said Eric Morgan. Thanks to the help from professional website designer Wesley Haines and a few graphic designers, the band is hoping the web site should be online by the end of July. Diego Villasmil discussed the web site. "We figured we would get everything out at once to make a bigger impact. With the site and the EP coming out around the same time it might get more people interested in our music."
Antaean has risen onto the music scene in the city of Columbus, Ohio, which the four members have called home for several years attending the Ohio State University. Antaean has been defined by its fans as "classically-influenced Rock band with a modern twist." Willie Hunter, a noted music journalist and head of Fresh Entertainment once told Ben Schwarzwalder, "you have 'it'."
The name Antaean comes from Greek mythological giant named Antaeus, whom was born son to Gaia and Poseidon. Because of this, Antaeus was indomitable while he was touching the earth. The band takes meaning with this name as a symbol for how they operate as musicians; as long as they stay grounded, keep a level head, and stay true to themselves, there is nothing they cannot accomplish. Indeed, Antaean has achieved a lot in its short time in the market. The band has traveled as far as Atlanta, Georgia for its music, and has been in Columbus Alive, an Ohio arts and entertainment newspaper. Antaean has also been featured in the Columbus Dispatch and the U Weekly, a local college newspaper.
Jared Linder, upon hearing the bands EP was pleased with the record and the direction in which the band is heading. With every rehearsal, every show, and every moment, Antaean is set on improving themselves as artists. Antaean is looking towards the future and where they can take their music through exposing more of their creativity in a full length album.

We are currently working on releasing 3 (women, men, local bands) 2010 Springfield Entertainment Group calendars. If you think you have what it takes to make 1 of the months for our calendars or have a band that could use the extra exposure by being displayed in a calendar, then contact us for consideration. Pay (guys & gals) for poseing in calendars will be a percentage of calendars sold. Men and women chosen for a month, will also have to be available periodically for bookings throughout the year (don't fret, it is only part-time for various weekends, possibly 3 days a month). We will book the SEG guys & gals at events and bars throughout the region.
We are also looking for an experienced individual to coordinate and supervise the events we book for the SEG guys and gals.
