From the jail to the jazz-club. Looking at the different types of concerthalls the band has already performed in, one might already guess that PACHECO stylistically is not easily defined.
Latin, Funk, Rock, Pop. Attitude towards life in English or Spanish.
Heat and sunshine. Always groovy. An invitation to dance.
PACHECO is one of those live bands that knows how to celebrate a party with their audience. The impulsive music goes from the belly right to the tips of your toes and suddenly, you notice that the tunes are already staying in your mind. Bandleader Rafael: “We like to play bossa, ska, punk, reggae, hip-hop... even soul, but we are not a reggae-band, or a latin-act. In our music, all those styles keep melting together and what comes out is the sound of PACHECO.
I..d be bored if I had to stick to only one style. That..s like life. All these scattered situations that have basically nothing in common and yet they keep happening to you, one after another.”
In 2003 the lead trumpet is the most significant element in Rafael..s music, a Mariachi-style sound that adds both colour and meaning to the group. Meanwhile saxophone and trombone joined the band and since then a fat brass sound became a cornerstone of the swirling sound of PACHECO.
