Band of the Bands is an effort to utilize the power of music to change the world. All profits from event admissions are donated directly to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
To date, Band of the Bands events have taken place at several local venues, including McMenamy's in Niles, The Wedge in Austintown, and Cedars Lounge in Youngstown.
Through these efforts, nearly $2,000 has been raised to help feed local people in need in the Mahoning Valley.
The Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and is a certified member of Feeding America, the largest domestic hunger relief organization in the nation. The Food Bank provides food to about 165 hunger relief organizations and groups in Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull counties, feeding more than 9,100 individuals each week. In 2007, they distributed over 5.3 million pounds of food in the Mahoning Valley.
For every $1 given to Second Harvest, they are able to distribute $15 worth of food to hungry families in the Mahoning Valley.
