. Bandroom Records – a little introduction -
Bandroom Records is a recently arrived Australian independent label of sorts.
It’s a place where good music is found and nurtured – so that you, the DJ, radio jock or even the humble music listener, have great tunes to make you dance, nod your head and even tap your feet. Bandroom Records is a fresh approach to releasing something that’s a little different – warning contents may contain traces of nuts!
With offices in both Sydney and Melbourne, Bandroom has got friends in all sorts of places. Headed up in Sydney by Simon Cahill, ex-Red Label, home of Editors, Calvin Harris, Eagles Of Death Metal, Old Man River, Goose and many more. After seven years of corporate pay cheques and flavoured early morning café lattes, Simon now works off a Commodore 64 and a pigeon carrier service to find acts that still record to cassette tape.
Whether its finding music from our own backyard or from around the world – Bandroom loves tunes that make ‘em dance or shiver. Essentially, it’s great music and they know you’re gonna dig it too - so enjoy the first bunch of releases from the Bandroom family.
Stay tunned for the first releases from the Bandroom Label including, Chicago duo, Walter Meego, with their album Voyager. Delivering an effervescent pop release filled with salacious bass and power synths, they will transcend the blogesphere and make you actually purchase a record, and the second release is from Parisian rock club band In The Club with Turn On You. A blend of pop-funk from the 80’s with a current club electro sensibility.
