Sounds Like
"Sunflower absolutely melt faces with their huge sound and an explosive live performance… a drummer who looks like The Animal, a guitarist who is jaw droppingly ferocious and a vocalist who shines." - Rave Mag
"It took only two songs and one SoCo & Coke to transform me into an instant groupie... their debut album cannot arrive quick enough." - Tsunami
"Sunflower have one of the most unusual sounds I’ve heard in a long time… it’s almost hard to brand them with one particular style, other than one that’s distinctly their own." - Courier Mail – Brizbands
Sunflower: A full time alternative, twice-a-week psychedelic, graveyard-shift blues and part-time experimental rock band. Sunflower is known for notoriously wild and passionate onstage shows, trademark magnetic double-neck guitar work, sweating while they "work", writing profusely and staying alive.
The band carve out a sparse living creating music used to strip paint from cars and houses, induce ear bleeds, sick days, sore necks and hangovers, and to generally run your life to the beat of their drum. Sunflower’s music also features furtively in Krishna mantras, and those rainforest-noise relaxation cassette tapes your mum used to play, and your primary school teacher used to calm the class down after big lunch.
Since igniting their local scene in 2007, Sunflower have smashed through over 100 shows throughout their home state, as well as progressing to playing host at premier venues and events across the east-coast. Playing live is the band’s passion, their lifeblood and musical livelihood. Just as likely to give you a blood nose as make you smile, Sunflower seek to create Rock’n’Roll from its glory days in their own design.
Debut Album, August 2009, La Reveille

"Also
hugely enjoyable, highly original AND psychically useful is the music
of Australian duo The Scrapes, whose fiery epic guitar and abandoned
Mithraic fiddle pieces evoke images of lost Keltic lands inundated by
the oceans, lost Iberian & Armorican sea peoples and lost times
from beyond the beyond." Julian Cope
