B & The Honeyboys are a bluesy, funky, R&B outfit formed in early 2006 by Kieran McEvoy (aka K.J. Mac) and Aileen Mythen ( B). Sharing a love of Blues and all things related, the two, both involved in other projects and activities originally formed the band as an outlet for playing Blues standards in bars and clubs. Since then B & The Honeyboys have become a more serious concern and have recently recorded an album of original songs, written by B and K.J.
K.J. Mac hails from Dublin and has been a professional musician for many years, playing lead guitar and singing with many different bands and solo artists. He lived and worked as a musician for 8 years in New York City, where he played lead guitar, sang and contributed songwriting to bands such as the Sony signed roots act, 'Naked Grape', Indie Folk rocker, Melissa Sheehan and Electra Records glam rockers, 'Smashed Gladys' among others. On returning home to Ireland in 1996 he recorded on his sister Eleanor McEvoy's columbia Record's album, 'What's Following me' and toured the U.S.A, Europe and of course Ireland with Eleanor and her band.
Since then he co-formed 'The Rose Ponies' with Australian singer-songwriter, Chiara Browne, played session guitar with numerous bands and artists and recently released an E.P. featuring four of his own songs.
Wexford born B is Mythen is a 'real discovery, her bluesy voice filling your head with pure soul as she gets under the skin of the songs and sings them from the inside out'(HOTPRESS magazine). She has a bluesy voice and feel which bely her tender years. 'To think that people revere the plastic pop princesses when the real deal is to be found right in front of you.' (Bluesbunny) She has been performing on stage in one way or another from the age of six, encouraged by her musician parents, who gigged extensively around Ireland with their country band in the 1970's. Along with singing B has an equal passion for acting and is a graduate of Dublin's prestigious Gaiety School of Acting. Since graduating she has performed all over the country with many different theatre companies and sung with many different bands performing myriad styles of music in venues including The Olympia, The Gaiety and bars and clubs the width and breadth of Ireland.
B & The Honeyboys are currently touring the country and promoting their recently released album, which is available from cd baby (http://cdbaby/cd/bhoneyboys). Mixing their aforementioned love of Blues with funk, Rock n' Roll and even Gospel influences, their songs inject a freshness and vitality into the Blues/Roots genre, sounding at once traditional and contemporary. B & The Honeyboys perform as a duo and with a full band adding crack rhythm section Shane Atlas (drums – www.shaneatlas.com), Paddy Joyce (bass), Podge (keys) to the line up.
HOTPRESS REVIEW:
B and The Honeyboys are fronted by Kieran McEvoy and Aileen Mythen on vocals. McEvoy has a kick-ass, full-on electric guitar style for which the word gritty might have been specially coined. Mythen is a real discovery, her bluesy voice filling your head with pure soul as she gets under the skin of the songs and sings them from the inside out. 'I Miss You' is a raspy rocker with the two in fine harmony mode, and backed by a fine rhythm section ;'Hang My Head' is a slower, raunchier affair, but the real killer is 'Hard to Believe', a touch of country edging the raw blues amid stirring organ from Podge Kilbride. Further proof that white folk can sing the blues, and no fake accents either.

BLUESBUNNY REVIEW:
Ireland? This band are from Ireland? The Bluesbunny ears thought they were being deceived. Surely this band was from Chicago. But no, they are indeed from Ireland. Ladies and gentlemen, the Bluesbunny is pleased to present our review of B & the Honeyboys self titled album.
B (also known as Aileen Mythen) is a rather fine singer. She has that polished style that makes it all seem so easy. Add some tasty guitar courtesy of Kieran McEvoy and you know that this album is going to work out just fine. "I Miss You" sets the scene admirably. You're in the back corner of a bar somewhere and a band starts their set. You just can't help yourself. They settle into an easy groove and your foot starts tapping. The dancefloor starts to fill as they fire up the funky "Hang My Head". To think that people revere the plastic pop princesses when the real deal is to be found right in front of you. The good times keep on coming in the shape of "Spinnin' Around" with Padraig Kilbride's keyboards driving things along nicely. The girls at the corner table join in on the chorus. This one has what they used to call hit record stamped all over it. Can we please have a slow one? Yes you can and "You Get What You Ask For" is just how it should be. Hold her close as the music is nearly over. There is still time for an encore and everybody rocks to "Set My Heart on Fire".
