As I was sorting through scholarship offers and preparing for college, I realized that I wanted to be a country singer. After two years of opry's, gospel conventions and karaoke, I got a break. While preparing a four song demo for a major label, the local studio owner asked me to sign with his firm, Cooper Sound Recording, Dallas, TX and record an album. The result was "No Place Like Home", an album consisting of all original, traditional country music written by Texas songwriters. We hired Roger Ramsey Corkill to promote the album and my Dad and I began calling on radio stations in an effort to "chart" the music. We fell just short of making the "Bubbling Under" on the Texas Music Chart. We sold the first album through Tower Records and my website(www.banncountry.com). The most impressive sales came from my mom, Beletta Grant, who sold the CD through the 50 year old family owned beauty shop, J'Nell's.
For my second CD, we enlisted well-known Texas producer Mike Kubiak and acquired songs from cutting edge songwriters in Nashville. We then began recording the second album, "On The Mend", at Palmyra Studios in Palmer, TX, a studio operated by Paul Middleton, Bonnie Raitt's award winning sound engineer. The new CD has been re-mixed by my steel guitar player, Larry White, in his studio in Dallas, TX and will be released in 2008. In the meantime, you'll be able to buy cuts from "On The Mend" at my SNOCAP store here on MySpace. We have also enlisted the services of well-known video director, Ken Mandel, to shoot a 2 camera HD video for a beautiful song, "Too Long", that's on the new CD. We will be posting the new music video before long. I think you are really going to love the HD video and "Too Long", penned by Chris Lindsey, Aimee Mayo, Hillary Lindsey, and Troy Vergas, famed writers of many nationally charted tunes.
We'll keep you informed about our bookings and hope to see you at a live show soon!
