Sounds Like
Themselves! Familiar tunes, unique, arrangement-centric approach. Not trad (though they love it), not avante (though they aspire), just playing as inspired. Okay, okay - Solas, Deanta, Cherish the Ladies, Flook, Bohola, Battlefield Band, Planxty, Liz Carroll, John Doyle, Men of Worth, Altan, and many more. But not really.
Acoustic trio Banshee in the Kitchen infuses traditional Celtic music and dashes with a dash of jazz and rock. Critics praise their dynamic arrangements and instrumental precision. Audiences love their eclectic approach and fun stage presence. The band finds the sweet spot between old and new, playfully stirring them together with originality and musicality they call “banshee-fying”.
Banshee in the Kitchen, based in Bakersfield, California, has been touring and recording since 2001. Last year they released their fourth album, Invite the Light: World Music for Winter, following on Even Hotter Water (Speirbhean Records, 2005). Internationally syndicated public radio show Echoes (PRI) features ITL as well as their second album, Catching the Mooncoin, which placed in its top 20 albums of 2003. Echoes produced a ‘meet the band’ feature and two concerts hosted by producert John Diliberto. Meanwhile, all the Banshee’s albums get regular play around the world.
Thanks for the add ladies; I'm looking forward to seeing you at Dagny's on Wednesday. CJ and I are really enjoying the copy of Even Hotter Water that we picked up a couple of weeks ago.. It's barely left my car's CD player :)
We love your music's inspiring movement, momentum, and flare. Thanks for being our friend and supporting house concerts. We look forward to you sharing your amazing music here...
