Influences
Our influences include the Chieftains, Pogues, Dubliners, Altan, Danu, Solas, Bruce Springstein, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Dervish, Tim O'Brien, Dixie Chicks,
Kevin Burke, Planxty, Bill Monroe, Ricky Scaggs and each other.
Banshee are a three piece accoustic roots group, who have been together for six years. We play a multitude of instruments which include fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki, button accordion, banjo, guitar, bass, double bass, flute, whistle, bodhran and other percussive instruments, we also sing.
Banshee's music is a mixture of Celtic, Bluegrass, Rock and Pop in a style we call "Green Grass," comprising both songs and tunes. We enjoy good friendly banter with our audiences and delight in entertaining crowds and parties at the many Ceilidh's and Barn Dances we perform at. Banshee call all their own dances.
Our music caters for a multiple of tastes and we also have a comprehensive "Music for Schools" programme, where we delight in "hands on" approach to our instruments for children.
We prefer to develop our own arrangements of traditional music and also write some original compositions.
Banshee are very proud of our Forest of Dean roots and background and gig throughout the UK. We have also played in France. Customer care and quality in our performances are our trademark and the reason why we are such a busy band.
