More than 12,300 animals are killed in the UK by gamekeepers every day for the benefit of the shooting interests. Only a small percentage of wildlife crimes are ever detected.
The UK is one of only five European members that still allow animal snares to be used. Ireland, France, Spain and Belgium have far stricter snare rules compared to the UK.
Almost 70 per cent of animals caught in snares are not the intended targets. No DEFRA official has ever checked to see if a snare fulfils their own code of practice and are lawful.
WHAT IS A SNARE?
A SNARE is an indiscriminate and cruel wire noose set largely by gamekeepers to trap foxes. However, rabbits, badgers, deer, cats and otters all get caught and snared and suffer appalling injuries. Finally there is a growing momentum of cross party support for a BAN ON SNARING.

I can not express how refreshing it is to know you NASC is working hard to see an end to the gruesome and barbaric practice of snaring. No living creature should be made to suffer and die terrified... Thank you so much for everything you do!
