Barack's Biography

"We Have a Lot of Work to Do"

Barack Obama was raised by a single mother and his grandparents. They didn't have much money, but they taught him values from the Kansas heartland where they grew up. He took out loans to put himself through school. After college, he worked for Christian churches in Chicago, helping communities devastated when steel plants closed.

Obama turned down lucrative job o?ers after law school to return to Chicago, leading a successful voter registration drive. He joined a small law ?rm, taught constitutional law and, guided by his Christian faith, stayed active in his community. Obama and his wife Michelle are proud parents of two daughters, Sasha and Malia.

hey im going to vote today!! im voting absentee at the city clerks office. I"ve been hearing on the radio and new about all the voting machines and how easy it is to flip a vote! so they say if you can vote on paper and early! it"s easy many people i know are doing it. make your vote count!! don"t give anyone the chance to rig the votes like 2004! also don"t let them fool you with all the polls and think you don"t need to vote beause Obama is ahead! we need every vote just in case they try any voting tampering.
thats why we need every vote! we can win! but not without every single one of you and your friends and fmily!!! pass it on talk to everyone you know! help insure Obama as our next President Of The United States!

Great ad last night on tv! It was sad to see how other families are also affected by the economy. My mom had a stroke in January. She was working full time w/health ins. She also has other significant health problems. In March, she chose to retire because she could no longer stand for 8+ hours a day and her health began to get worse. The money she gets now is just enough to get by with no extra anything. I just found out that she no longer has any insurance.

She was told she doesn't qualify for Medicaid or disability. She has medications she is supposed to take on a daily basis and follow up visits she has to go to.
How is she supposed to afford this when there isn't even enough to pay for her own insurance? If she dies because she can't get the care she needs-how am I supposed to explain that to my kids?
We need health care for everyone who needs it regardless of age. If my mom had insurance, she would live a longer life. She could have her x-rays, go to follow ups and take her medications. She would also be more productive-maybe there are new meds out there to help people breathe better or work harder to prevent strokes or heart attacks. She could have confidence knowing she is taken care of and could go back to work. But now she must wait a few more years until she qualifies for Medicare-if she lives that long.

Please Senator, no matter what happens in this election do whatever you have to do to get those stiffs to loosen up and realize Americans need medical coverage NOW!

Mr Barack--did you know that St. Joseph is the saint that helps you sell your house? If you bury a statue of him in your yard, it is a Catholic legend that your home will sell. Michigan needs that kind of support! Wouldn't you say?

God Bless America!!

Go Barack Obama and Joseph Biden

Why You Should Vote

Because it stops censorship and its good for you - the following is taken from page 102 of "Please God Save Us"

So why would a government, in a free country, attack modern day culture such as music, film or art? Because the political benefits outweigh the political risks. And why is that? Because young people do not vote.

How does the government know this? Because your birthday is a part of your voter registration record. They know how many 18-30 year olds are registered to vote and they know how many actually punch a ballot on Election Day.

OK let me explain.

Voters are identified by age and address. If every person who is smart and beautiful and 25 went to the polls, then government policy would be more attentive to the needs of the beautiful and smart 25 year-olds.

So if you are a young mom and need better child care options in your town - vote. If you have to work to pay for college - vote. If you want economic policies that support living wage jobs - vote. If you want your government to develop programs that can build towards a better future for this country - VOTE. And yes – if you want to stop censorship - vote.

There is power not just in your one vote, but in segments of the population expressing their collective interest in all future public policies. If you want more government to pay attention to you then you need to be heard.

"One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.

wake up

wake up sleepy heads
it’s time to change the world

i believe an eye for an eye
just makes everyone blind
i believe justice could be perfect
if we follow it’s flawless design

i believe that children
hate no one when they’re born
i believe if they grow to hate
we’re doing something wrong

i believe that music
can really heal your soul
i believe the human spirit
can be filled to become whole

i believe in action
i believe in work
i believe in respect
i believe we can heal the hurt
i believe in strength
i believe in love
i believe I’m right
i believe in looking up
i believe that poetry
matters now and then
i believe the youth of the world
are about to rise again
i believe in peace
i believe in truth
i believe life
i believe in you
i believe in you

o, say can you see
by the dawn's early light
what so proudly we hailed
at the twilight's last gleaming
whose broad stripes and bright stars
through the perilous fight
o'er the ramparts we watched
were so gallantly streaming
and the rocket's red glare
the bombs bursting in air
gave proof through the night
that our flag was still there
oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave
o'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave
