Barack Obama was raised by a single mother and his grandparents. They didn't have much money, but they taught him values from the Kansas heartland where they grew up. He took out loans to put himself through school. After college, he worked for Christian churches in Chicago, helping communities devastated when steel plants closed.
Obama turned down lucrative job o?ers after law school to return to Chicago, leading a successful voter registration drive. He joined a small law ?rm, taught constitutional law and, guided by his Christian faith, stayed active in his community. Obama and his wife Michelle are proud parents of two daughters, Sasha and Malia.

EUGENE, Ore. - It's crunch time for campaign workers. Lane County Republican volunteers worked feverishly this weekend in the field and at their office in northeast Eugene.
"We're making calls," said volunteer Kerry Ferguson. "We'll be doing door-to-door, but mostly our calling works really well."
The phone lines were also tied up at the Obama headquarters in Downtown Eugene.
"We've got tools on the internet where folks can download tools and resources to reach out to friends and neighbors in their own community," said Oregon Communications Director Sahar Wali.
Supporters got some big help Saturday afternoon. Six feet seven inches of it in the form of Craig Robinson. Robinson is Barack Obama's brother-in-law. He's also the head mens basketball coach at Oregon State.
"I came down to help get the office and the fans excited about getting out to vote," said Robinson.
Robinson told KVAL News that even though he's a Beaver, it hasn't been hard to campaign in duck country. He said a lot of Oregon fans have wished him luck this season.
In Eugene, getting the youth vote is always important. But in 2004, fewer than half of 18 to 24 year olds cast ballots. KVAL News asked both campaigns if they thought that would change this year.
"Absolutely," said Wali. "I think especially here in Oregon we will see a huge number of students, a huge number of young people turning out for Barack."
"Hard to say," said Ferguson. "They always say they're going to be. It seems like they sign up early on and the time comes and they've got class or they've got somethin

Obama Your Great, But you know whats ticking us off about this rescue plan? I will keep it short ... we the people are not being told what is being done! END OF REPORT!! all we are told over and over again is what the problem is. We all know that, we are not stupid, we want to know what is going to be done, and all we get is a sales pitch. If we wanted a sales pitch, We would go to a car dealer. Tell the people how it is and whats being done to correct it. Other wise the senators trying to sell it need to go be sales personal. Present it as facts not a sales. Go Obama & Biden, Hope you both make the Presidency God Bless All BDT
