Barack Obama was raised by a single mother and his grandparents. They didn't have much money, but they taught him values from the Kansas heartland where they grew up. He took out loans to put himself through school. After college, he worked for Christian churches in Chicago, helping communities devastated when steel plants closed.
Obama turned down lucrative job o?ers after law school to return to Chicago, leading a successful voter registration drive. He joined a small law ?rm, taught constitutional law and, guided by his Christian faith, stayed active in his community. Obama and his wife Michelle are proud parents of two daughters, Sasha and Malia.

Sen. Obama, Thank you so much for your amazing speech about the racial tensions we are still dealing with in America. You were so eloquent and your solutions are right on target. I am glad you made that speech, we all needed to hear it. I am sorry to hear that this new focus on race has taken a little wind out of your sails. There are so many people who are so inspired by you...all ages, all races, all socio-economic levels, and both sexes. You, Sen. Obama, are the perfect person to lead this nation and to help us overcome the lingering problems we have in the US. God bless you! Let's ALL keep HOPE alive!
