"The voice of an angel, the mind of a philosopher, the heart of a woman, the soul of a mystic, the idiosyncratic guitar style of Joni Mitchell-meets-John Martyn."
Whatever information I could give you about myself will only vaguely communicate who I am and what I'm about. The best thing to do is listen to my songs and if I'm successful in what I intend, then you will hear echoes of the songs of your own heart....
Does it really matter where I grew up, how many gigs I've played, who I've sung with, which films I've been in? To me, there are much more exciting things to know. Humanity is currently undergoing the most fantastic shift - hearts and minds are opening; we're finally beginning to wake up and for the first time in all of humanity's history, we have the opportunity to participate in the evolution of consciousness itself.... Truly something to sing about! How exciting is THAT?
MUCH more exciting than the fact (if you insist on knowing...) that you can see me (wearing just my guitar and a few leaves) performing my song "King Of My Heart" in the British comedy movie, "Confetti" (2006) during the naturist wedding scene. Or you can buy my albums "Play My Heart" and "Amore Vincit Omnia" (Love Wins All) from my website: http://www.barbarajhunt.com., or download them from i-tunes.
I was once told, by a friend who was quoting some ancient wisdom, that in order to become a perfect painter, first you become perfect and then you just paint.
This is partly what's kept me so long. Then I had an epiphany about perfection, and decided that if being "practically perfect" was good enough for Mary Poppins, then it would be alright for me....
(It's also probably pertinent to mention that this same individual also asked me "If you had a dragon, what would you call it?")
My writing has evolved, as I have, and think that I'm interested in writing about pretty much anything that fascinates or inspires me (for example: Einstein's Theory of Relativity and reincarnation in "Been Mine" from my second album "Play My Heart") but really that's just a thin disguise.. all of my songs are about love, one way or another. What else is there? But, just as a small reassurance: I do have a strict "no dolphins" policy in all my lyrics...
"BUT WHAT DOES SHE MEAN; "INTEGRAL SINGER-SONGWRITER"??? Check out the Integral Institute at www.integralnaked.org and they'll explain everything. Seriously - pretty much EVERYTHING...
And if you want to know more about the evolution of consciousness and culture, the most exciting adventure possible: visit http://www.enlightennext.org or http://www.andrewcohen.org.
Love meanwhile....
