About me:

I love creating things with words, especially books for children and teens. I am the author of LASSO LOU AND COWBOY McCOY (Dial Books for Young Readers) about which the New York Times Book Review said, “I love this book for its humor, its drawings and its suggestion, at the end, that there is more to cowboys than clothes.” Most days, I can be found at my desk, working away on my Mac with the snow-capped mountains of the Tongass National Forest in grand view outside my window. I taught first and fifth grades for a number of years, and I still miss the kids! My presentations, “Raising Readers,” “Ya-hoo-a-roo for Reading” and “Ya-hoo-a-roo for Writing” bring the excitement of reading, writing and editing into schools and libraries. I hope to see you soon at some event!
