Barbara Lee George is a eclectic singer/songwriter whose voice and compositions surprise and delight. From jazzy, hip hop lullabies to rock symphonies. Barbara and her band, "Better Together" are just that better together and they will take you for a heart and mind expanding ride and leave you better for having had the journey.
Saddle-up and enjoy the ride!!!
Barbara George was born in the City of Birmingham, Alabama. Her father was the Manager of the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Associate Conductor of the Alabama Pops Orchestra. President of the Birmingham Opera Company and Vice President of the Southern Regional Opera Company. Her mother hosted a live jazz radio and television program for the NBC affiliate.
Consequently Barbara's introduction to music was quite diverse and this direction continued as she began writing her own compositions at the age of nine. To date, Barbara has written over 100 songs, in a variety of styles; pop, rock, jazz, country, blues, R&B, symphonic, reggae and calypso.
Of particular note is a song Barbara composed in 1990 titled, "The Earth Anthem". This song was adopted by Orange Environment of Orange County, New York as their official Earth Day Anthem. Barbara's song was also nominated for a United Earth/Nobel Prize that same year in May along with her children's book, "Kiss The World Goodnight", written and illustrated by Barbara.
Hi Barbara. How are you?. NYC has been great for me lately....so many shows, so many parties, concerts, i was interviewed last week on totalrock.com and that went all over the world. I live a blessed life. I'm aware of that and don't take that for granted. Myspace has just got so big for me...7,300 friends...that i feel like I've lost touch with so many friends..i feel bad about that. I added about 30 new pictures to the end of my picture section tonight of stuff I've done in the past 10 days. I have 6,000 pictures now on my computer that are all pretty recent..and so many with interesting famous musicians, celebs, friends....it's what happens when you live a very public life in NYC. I have myspace guilts right now :> Last week i started doing facebook. I find it an easier way to communicate with people, though no one can really find me there...my name is Dave Lawrence...but there are a lot of people with that same name on Facebook. I'm "Electric Dave" to so many people. Lately people have been pushing me to write a book, not that I think who or what I am is anything all that interesting, but evidently other people do.....I just call it "Life". Who has time to write a book when I'm so busy living it? How have things been by you? Sorry I havent been in touch. What's new in your world? peace, love, music, and a whole bunch of other cool things, "Electric" Dave Lawrence
