Barbara Clark writes from her musical roots in the Texas hill country where she performed in local venues, was a participant in the Kerrville New Folk Festival , and performed at the South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas. “One of the most beautiful voices, and some of the best songwriting in Austin, Clark sounds like an angel with a confiding undertone that, quite frankly, ravishes my ears,” states Third Coast Music Magazine's John Conquest. Now living in Fort Collins, Colorado , Barbara performs in local venues and is releasing her second CD, “She Won't Wait” which she co-produced with local percussionist, Derf Green. This new CD includes the talent of regional musicians including Dave Beegle, Mark Sloniker, and Colleen Crosson. Her first CD, “Whole Hearted”, which was produced by Scott Neubert in Austin, Texas in 1994, received fine reviews from the music magazine, “Music City Texas” and from the British country music magazine, “Maverick”. “Whole Hearted” was re-released in Fort Collins in 2004.
Clark’s work is meaty and gutsy - tender and direct. She speaks to issues we all can relate to, digging deep into our emotions from personal stories to general commentaries of our human condition. She has recently composed and performed new work for theatrical productions including Samuel Beckett’s Catastrophe, a CSU production directed by Eric Prince. She has performed at Avogadro’s Number numerous times, including opening for folk favorite Darryl Purpose, who performs on her new CD, and she has appeared on KRFC Radio's “The Folk Show”.
