Barbara Zielinska-Van developed her fascination with music at a very young age. She first attended afternoon music classes, then she was accepted to Primary Music School. Her major instrument became the piano - she still remains faithful to it. After a break caused by her ilness, Barbara was accepted to the Academy of Music in Katowice.
She first started composing for the piano in the early eigthies. As she now became interested in jazz, her compositions were written in jazz vein.
In 1983 Barbara took part in jazz workshops held at the fabled Varsovian Stodola and in Chodziez. Although back then she based per performances on jazz standards, she managed to skillfully introduce her own ideas and compositions as well.
Barbara's first major success was the invitation to study at the Berklee College in Boston. Her compositional skills evolved as well, leading her to explore the areas of contemporary music and electronic music. The latter was now becoming her second passion.
The artist's main goal was to found her own recording studio, where she could freely work on her ideas. In 1993 she opened the "Diaton" studio- its name was soon changed to "B&T Records". The studio still functions under this name and so far has witnessed many artistic inspirations.
After the still ongoing fascination with Keith Jarret, Oscar Peterson and Ella Fitzgerald, time came for Vangelis, Tangerine Dream and J. M. Jarre. Together with Wenancjusz Ochmann Barbara recorded her debut electronic material entitled "Wizje". A few of her compositions were featured on the "El Pop Laid Back" compilation CD (Paris Music). Finally, new material entitled "Business Woman" was released on Paris Music as well.
The music featured on both releases was intended for the use in media. Barbara's compositions are still being used in many TV shows, including the Polish version of "the Dating Game", "Ktokolwiek Widzial, Ktokolwiek Wie...", wildlife films and documentaries. They're also often aired on various radio stations.
In 2002 Barbara recorded her first solo project entitled "Secret Garden". The compositions from te album made it to radio playlists in many countries abroad. In the same year, together with Lukasz Pawlak, the artist released a project for Requiem Records, entitled "Nostalgia i Nadzieja".
Barbara has been presenting her contemporary work during the yearly Synesthese festival in Bourges, France. So far three compositions were performed: "5 Minut", "Antigravity 6" and "Tibet Bells".

In 2003, together with Sabina Borner, Barbara released the debut Van & Borner album, entitled "Miracles". The album featured guest performances by Marek Gorlitz (guitar),Darek Budkiewicz (bass guitar) and Jolanta Literska (vocals) and its premiere took place during the Electronic Music Fairs in Langenfeld, Germany. "Shadow Dancing", the opening song from the album, was featured on the compilation CD released by the British "Sequences" magazine.
The album was acclaimed by both Polish and foreign audiences. The song "Walking In Clouds" was suited with a video clip.
The first live performance of songs from "Miracles" took place during the ZEF-Reaktywacja festival in Pisz.
The demand for electronic music kept on growing and so did the demand for Van's live performances. The most important shows at that time took place at the Ten Ta To Gallery in Katowice, the Spodek hall in Katowice (during the Wagary festival, alongside T. Love, Myslovitz and Big Cyc), the Wiosna Gliwicka festival, the Music and Show festival in Warsaw, El-Izerie, the Korez Theatre, the Szuster Palace in Warsaw, etc.
In 2004 Barbara took part in a charity event for Polish Red Cross, auctioning photographs by actress Krystyna Janda.
While touring continuously, Barbara kept on composing for Paris Music and for her band Van, now invited to take part in the "Baja Prog" festival in Mexico, alongside Carl Palmer (ELP), Caravan, Taal, Ashtar, Aural, Tryo, Eclat, Tripod and Ozric Tentacles.
The British "Sequences" magazine for the third time in the row released one of Barbara's compositions on its compilation CD. This time it was "Tibet Bells", a piece composed for the Synesthese festival in Bourges.
After returning from the tour, Barbara began working on the new Van single.In the end of 2008 Barbara also starts to work with new solo electro-ambient studio album with guests.

Od najmlodszych lat interesuje sie muzyka. Poczatkowo uczeszcza do Ogniska Muzycznego oraz Szkoly Muzycznej I stopnia. Instrumentem, na którym rozpoczela swoja edukacje muzyczna i któremu wierna jest do dnia dzisiejszego to fortepian. Po przerwie spowodowanej choroba, trafia do katowickiej Akademii Muzycznej na wydzial IV. Jej pierwsze kompozycje powstaja na poczatku lat 80-tych, i sa to wówczas utwory glównie "na fortepian". Utwory te maja charakter jazzowy, poniewaz jazz staje sie jej glówna pasja.
W 1983 roku bierze udzial w Warsztatach Jazzowych w Warszawie (Klub "Stodola"), a takze dwukrotnie w Chodziezy. Repertuar kompozytorki oparty jest w tym czasie o standardy jazzowe, ale bardzo sprawnie udaje jej sie równiez wplatac swoje wlasne pomysly i kompozycje.
Jej pierwszym muzycznym sukcesem jest zlozona wówczas oferta studiów w bostonskiej Berklee College of Music. W trakcie studiów w Akademii powstaja takze utwory z gatunku tzw. muzyki powaznej wspólczesnej, jak równiez muzyki elektronicznej, która powoli staje sie jej druga pasja muzyczna. Podstawowym zalozeniem artystki jest chec posiadania wlasnego studia nagran dzwiekowych, w którym moglaby realizowac swoje muzyczne pomysly. I tak w 1993 roku zaklada studio "Diaton", w roku 1999, studio zmienia nazwe na "B&T Records" i pod tym szyldem istnieje do dnia dzisiejszego bedac swiadkiem wielu artystycznych inspiracji. Po nieprzemijajacej fascynacji Keithem Jarretem, Oscarem Petersonem, Ella Fitzgerald, nadszedl czas na fascynacje Vangelisem, Tangerine Dream, J. M. Jarrem. Wspólnie z Wenancjuszem Ochmannem nagrywa swój debiutancki material muzyczny z kregu muzyki elektronicznej zatytulowany "Wizje". Nastepnie kilka jej utworów umieszczonych zostaje na skladance "El Pop Laid Back" (wyd. Paris Music), wreszcie przyszedl czas na material zatytulowany "Business Woman", równiez wydany przez oficyne Paris Music.
Muzyka z obu plyt wykorzystywana jest i skomponowana z mysla o mediach. Utwory kompozytorki czesto pojawiaja sie jako oprawy muzyczne wielu programów telewizyjnych m.in. "Randka W Ciemno" , czy "Ktokolwiek Widzial, Ktokolwiek Wie...", filmów przyrodniczych, dokumentalnych i reportazy. Utwory Barbary bardzo czesto pojawiaja sie takze, zarówno w lokalnych jak i ogólnopolskich stacjach radiowych.

Do nagrania plyty Panie tym razem zaprosily: basiste Darka Budkiewicza, gitarzyste Marka Gorlitza oraz wokalistke Jole Literska. Utwor otwierajacy plyte, "Shadow Dancing" znalazl sie na skladance brytyjskiego magazynu muzycznego "Sequences", plyta cieszy sie powodzeniem wsród obcokrajowej ale takze i rodzimej publicznosci. Do utworu "Walking In Clouds" zostaje takze zarejestrowany clip. W sierpniu 2003 roku zespól poraz pierwszy prezentuje "na zywo" album na Festiwalu Muzyki Elektronicznej "ZEF-Reaktywacja" w Piszu.
Zapotrzebowanie na taka wlasnie muzyke stale rosnie, a jej charakter sprawia, iz pojawia sie takze wiele ofert koncertowych. Najwazniejsze dotychczas wystepy to: Galeria "Ten Ta To", "Wagary" w katowickim "Spodku" obok takich zespolów jak T. Love, Myslovitz, Big Cyc, "Music And Show", "El-Izerie", "Wiosna Gliwicka", "Teatr Korez", Palac Szustra w Warszawie. W 2003 roku w sierpniu Van&Borner wystepuje na Festiwalu muzyki elektronicznej "ZEF-Reaktywacja".

W 2004 roku Barbara bierze udzial w charytatywnej akcjii na rzecz PCK, licytujac fotografie autorstwa Krystyny Jandy.
Poza koncertami, Barbara nadal zajmuje sie komponowaniem nowych propozycji dla Paris Music, a takze do repertuaru zespolu Van, ktory zostal zaproszony do wziecia udzialu w nowym skladzie, na Festiwalu muzyki progresywnej "Baja Prog" w Meksyku, obok takich znakomitosci jak Carl Palmer (E, L&P), Caravan, Taal, Ashtar, Aural, Tryo, Eclat, Tripod, Ozric Tentacles.
W kolejnym numerze brytyjskiego pisma "Sequences" (3 z kolei) znalazl sie utwor Barbary, ktory przygotowany zostal na festiwal w Bourges "Tibet Bells".
Po powrocie z koncertow, Barbara realizuje nowy singiel, wraz z zespolem, przygotowujac najnowszy album studyjny.Jesienia 2008 roku,Barbara kończy prace nad kolejnym autorskim electro-ambientowym albumem studyjnym własnym z zaproszonymi gośćmi.

Del 20 al 25 de octubre en el Centro Cultural Recoleta de la ciudad de Buenos Aires tendrá lugar una muestra de las más diversas expresiones sonoras de la escena contemporánea en la 2ª edición del Encuentro Internacional de Arte Sonoro Tsonami Buenos Aires 2009
8 conciertos, performances, obras multimedia y una exposición permanente de Instalaciones Sonoras, convergiendo así trabajos de artistas Nacionales e Internacionales de diversas estéticas y trayectorias que toman el trabajo del sonido como eje principal.
El Encuentro de Arte Sonoro TSONAMI es una plataforma Independiente, de difusión del trabajo de artistas Latinoamericanos y de intercambio con producciones del resto del mundo vinculadas a las Artes Sonoras. TSONAMI es además un punto de encuentro transdisciplinario en torno al arte contemporáneo y la temática del sonido.
