From the ashes of White Elephant comes the brain child of Hugh Swaso and Cameron Weeks. A gritty blend of bluesy vocals and the relentless sound of pure electricity.
"If you've never seen Hugh Swaso, who leads Barbarella, you should. With formidable guitar skills and the voice of a blues man cursed with a Sgt. Pepper's wardrode, Swaso is a natural showman who only seems to get better." - Margaret Hair / Independent Weekly
"... It was alt. rock that I’ve longed to have make a return. Queens of the Stone Age would be proud. And Hugh Swaso’s guitar work was - hands down - the best of the night. Hopefully, Barbarella will play around here more." - Morgan Ellis / The Daily Tarheel
Thanks for the music you guys put out its awesome what little of it i have and thanks for giving it away i would pay for it if i could...you guys are pretty bad ass...

Yoohooo guys. I know you're not dead; you're just morphing. Take your time, but get that cd OUT THERE! It will make heads spin, and keyboards clickity-click with excitement.
Sending you wishes for a merry Christmas, and a phoenix new year. It's going to happen.
My band is playing tomorrow night, Dec. 20th, at the Library. Show starts at 9 or so. Try and come out if you can. That sucks you guys disbanded. You guys were my favorite band.
EVERYONE: come out tonight to the Cradle and see Hugh age one whole year, right before your very eyes!!! (I got a sneak peak last night, and he's aging quite well, though he did need a nap and left just before midnight. Aging. But with class.)
So good to meet you the other night! we'll have to catch up next time you're back this way. I think you guys are in Athens on the first. So is urban...we should all catch up for the afterparty!!
hey hugh, heard you did a bang up job as Jackson the other night... major props! I'm coming home for thanksgiving, maybe i'll actually get to hear a show this time! Much love to you and Mere.
honking horns, confetti, wild fans flailing arms about wearing silly hats with elastic chinstraps... Barbarella has an anniversary this week! more honking horns, confetti; skip the fans with hats
This Saturday the 13th marks one year from Barbarella's first show. Congratulations!!!!! Thank you, Hugh, Cam, and Noah, for many many outstanding shows with cosmic songs the past 12 months. I'm looking forward to the next 12 years of ballistic Barb!
Hahahaaa, I'm nobody's mama for sure! And "bad"? Awwl, Hugh, your goodness infinitely outweighs any bad! You emanate good times, good feelings! But don't go trying to outdo Justin and go "bringing bad back" just to be a bit avant-garde. ...Though we do like that cutting edge aspect...
