"We're not a band (...) Just a musical trademark (...) We're looking for singers (...) And producers (...)"
Nicolas
Barbier who was born on October 13th 1969 in Montluçon in France, is a pianist,
composer-songwriter and arranger keen on British pop music.
Born of a family of teachers, Nicolas learns musical theory and classical piano music at the age of
nine. As a teenager, he listens to
Mozart, Ravel but also to ... The Cure, Simply Red, Depeche Mode, Tears For
Fears, New Order and U2 with a weakness for ...Sade.
In the 90s, Nicolas studies musicology at the University with Patricia Petitbon (Florent Pagny) and discovers
the story and
the works of the Beatles. It triggered
something in his mind. Since, Nicolas devotes himself to composition, and begins to attend recording studios.
In 1996, after having passed his exams, he moves to Réunion Island, an overseas department of France where he founds a music school called “klé de Sol Créole” in
1998. Back to France, Nicolas writes, composes and records in Brittany a song called “sans lendemain” with two professional
musicians: the bass player François
Delage (Alain Bashung) and the guitar player Xavier Geronimi (Etienne Daho,
Indochine).
In 2006, Nicolas works as an outside musician contributor in the
schools of a small thermal spa in the center of France called Néris les
Bains. That’s where he meets Patrice
Brosset and his family: Maëlle, Lisa and
Samia. In spring 2007, Nicolas realizes an old dream: he walks on the famous pedestrian crossing of Abbey Road in the
north of London. After a few theatrical
experiences, Nicolas has another dream and decides to have some of his songs
adapted into the language of Shakespeare, the language of his new idols: Keane, Coldplay, James Blunt, Robbie
Williams... Patrice
Brosset, who works as an English teacher, then becomes...his lyric writer. In March 2008, from this collaboration “Barbier-Brosset”
arised four songs: You and Me, Back to
you, Asian Attraction and By my Side.

Patrice
Brosset was born in Normandy on June, 10th 1968 just across the British coasts for which he has a
particular attachment right from his earliest days. Fascinated since his middle school years by
everything that comes from across the Channel, he develops a very particular
interest for this British pop music that floods on the waves of the BBC Radio
One as well as for the English language.
Then, after his university studies of foreign languages (English and Spanish) as well as his numerous trips
across the world among which a two year study in the USA he meets Samia and her
little daughter Lisa in 1996. From this
union will be born their daughter Maëlle in 1998.
It’s in the center of France in Auvergne and more precisely in the area of the little thermal spa of Néris les Bains that
they settle down and that Patrice in its turn teaches the language of Shakespeare to his pupils. This is where he meets Nicolas Barbier: an outside musician contributor who will soon
become Maëlle’s piano teacher. From the
meeting of these two personalities arises
friendship and collaboration since Nicolas a few month later asks him to adapt some of his songs in
English.
The challenge was so tempting. Being able to link English to
music was for Patrice such a fantastic opportunity. And who knows, maybe one day, just like Elton
John, he will have the privilege "to be ennobled by the Queen".
