BarbWired was formed in the spring of 2007, with the intention of putting together a cover band that was going to do the popular hits that most other cover bands do not play.
"The music scene was getting saturated with the classic rock genre and we wanted to provide audiences with something different” says lead vocal singer Barb Doran. The group plays a diverse, all embracing mix of cover material from contemporary to the 80’s and 90’s. Their repertoire includes something for everyone.
BarbWired’s sound is based around the riveting and enthusiastic vocals of lead singer Barbara Doran. She has been singing since age 3 and has always felt comfortable in front of an audience. She gives her heart and soul at every performance and loves to give the audience a show that will keep them coming back..
She is backed by a tight, powerhouse rhythm section. Starting with Rob Mahler on Lead Guitar. Rob has played in many bands and has lots of stage experience. He is a consummate lead player that adds a great dimension to the band. On Rhythm Guitar is Matt Doran. He provides a steady rhythm and keeps the band grooving. Matt has done the Toronto Indie Circuit as well with Barb in a band called "Sheer Denial". He is a consummate player who loves to give everyone a crowd pleasing performance. Steve Jones, the bass player, is a tight player who delivers a solid performance from rehearsal to gigs. His voice complements Barb’s and sings harmonies with little effort. He is a solid steady performer, who demands nothing less than perfection at a gig. Next we have Dave Babyn he is a rock solid drummer.. Dave plays an electronic drum kit which adds a whole new dimension to our song list.. We can both dance and rock at the touch of a button..If you are looking for a band that is high energy, enthusiastic, and gives a great performance, then come out and see Barb Wired.
