Who are the barefoot BUSHMEN? Is there an Identity crisis? What do they sound like?
They are a band hailing from the Shire (near to Lincoln) Their heroes are John Lennon, Frank Black Evan Dando and Gram Parsons... and this is how the story goes.
Originally formed at school in the 90's under the guise 'May' - Sam, Nick and Tim played jingly jangly Beatles and Levellers inspired folk rock in the bars and clubs of Newark, Grantham and Nottingham. The boys then went their separate ways with the lure of the University party lifestyle and freedom appearing particularly attractive. Whilst in Cambridge studying the art of Music Technology Tim and Nick wrote and produced 3 albums worth of material in a caravan, Nicks residence at the time. They soon realized there was a future in this so the 2 nomads made a break for London in search of like-minded.
As fate may have it Sam had just returned from traveling the world to source inner inspiration. A bungalow was rented, equipment was found and all night sessions commenced. The barefoot BUSHMEN were reborn. With guitars permanently slung over their shoulders and a drummer ready to rumble they took their troubadour spirit together with an endless pocket of songs and stunning vocal harmony on a journey through the city. The Bushmen performed in pubs and clubs with tales of card games and magic spells, marshmallow dream worlds and pseudo city tree life canopies. The addition keyboardist Dave "Spaceboy" Bridge-Collyns, who had been working for a New York record label, made the progression into their current pastiche of creativity which ranges from pseudo-sixties vocal harmony, folk-a-billy guitars rising through grunge into all out punk laps of honour, while still spinning on a constant thread of melody.
As a sideline Tim also plays solo acoustic shows under the guise 'barefootim. These shows are both heartwarming and heartbreaking in turn. More Evan then the Lemonheads, more Elliott than the Smiths.
The barefoot BUSHMEN can currently be found playing well-respected venues to a loyal, enthusiastic and ever increasing following.

FOURTEEN SHOWS, SIX POETS, ONE VAN…
… YES, IT’S GENERATION TXT
Following the success of acclaimed new poetry anthology Generation Txt, penned in the margins is taking the six gifted young poets featured in the book on a national tour to fourteen venues. Hand-picked from a nationwide search for writing talent, the poets include former Northern Young Writer of the Year Emma McGordon and celebrated performance poet Inua Ellams, as well as Joe Dunthorne, whose debut novel Submarine has just been snapped up by Hamish Hamilton. Natural Sciences graduate Laura Forman, creative writing student Abigail Oborne and experimental poet and text artist James Wilkes complete the bill.
Hailed by distinguished poet and critic Roddy Lumsden as 'a vital cross-section of the poetry that will progress and flourish' and by the TES as 'a creative ideas manual', the Generation Txt tour will be a must-see event for anyone interested in the future of literature.

Hi! I’m GENERATION TXT, the acclaimed new anthology of poetry featuring Joe Dunthorne, Inua Ellams, Laura Forman, Emma McGordon, Abigail Oborne and James Wilkes. You can buy me from at www.amazon.co.uk or direct from www.pennedinthemargins.co.uk or at selected bookshops nationwide.
The current generation of poets under 30 sees the factional stances which lead their predecessors as petty and limiting. Generation Txt looks at all points of poetry's star and is less concerned with the middle ground, which makes this selection of young writers more vital and a truer cross-section of the poetry that will progress and flourish.'
