Naming Barefoot Fred's influences is like trying to throw a massive party, but you can only invite a few people. You have family, friends, and others who have shaped your life over the years... so of course they get a call. However, what about that dude on the street, whose funked-out-lines still tease your senses into an uncontrollable frenzy of synaptic paroxysm, untamed and unkempt in your psyche? Do you invite him? Would anyone know who he was anyway? He could be the coolest dude at the party, and nobody would even realize it. Basically, there's too many people to fit on the guest list....
There is something almost surreal about the way Barefoot Fred has come together to be the band they are today. Since August of '08 the band has flirted with four bassists, four drummers, and has changed names three times. What emerged from the chaos in March of 09’ is nothing less than extraordinary. Every new show is a demonstration of how the band improves with experience. They all have a passion for their instruments, and a quick listen to their music is a testament to that fact.
Barefoot Fred’s influences come from a wide variety of musical styles and genres. You will hear traces of psychedelic rock, funk, bluegrass, and jazz depending on which of their songs you are listening to and what day of the week it is. Their live shows, along with an improvisational approach to music, make Barefoot Fred different from any other band touring in the area. If you are lucky enough to get a chance to see them live, it will truly be an experience you will never forget.
