About me: Welcome to the dream-crushing world of entertainment law. Whether you want to make it show business, or are just curious as to how it works from a legal perspective join me every Friday from 9 AM to 10 AM on Indie 103.1 FM in Los Angeles (or worldwide on indie1031.com) for an hour of free legal advice covering film, tv, music, literature, and more. You can join the program with your questions by calling the station at 877-900-1031.
Presently I am retired from the practice of law but I am still licensed and my 15 years of experience as an entertainment attorney in Hollywood and my 26 years experience in the music, film, and television business is at your disposal. Whether it's my long career playing bass for the Vandals, owner of Kung Fu Records, or my experience as a network TV executive and later film
maker, I will hopefully be able to guide you through your specific problem and provide some useful information for the radio audience. ASK JOE? I can't really answer your legal questions by email, but if you have comments on the show, or suggestions, please send them to me at

Who I'd like to meet: Anyone in, or aspiring to be in the Entertainment Industry- that wants to know how it all REALLY works.
Great show today, but regarding VH1 and CBS, don't forget that CBS has split off from Viacom, and they're in "friendly competition." I really wish I had something better to do than to leave this comment.
Once upon a time, I had a really great idea for a scripted television series but had almost given up on it out of fear of a copyright-infringement sort of legal clusterf*ck. I was stuck. So what did I do? Well, I took a chance and called into Barely Legal. After I explained the situation, you put my fears to rest and encouraged me to ride my idea off into the sunset. Thanks for doing that. I strongly encourage anyone in LA involved in any of the various creative industries to tune in every Friday and--more importantly--to call with their questions...
If I ever make it to a payday with this idea of mine, I'm going to send you a big box of porn. Thanks for doing what you do! (Oh and the Vandals are pretty great too...they just don't help my career like Barely Legal...you should fix that...)
You and Josh did SOOOOOOOOO well on your show today! ♥! Josh really seemed to enjoy being there and taking calls with you. YOu should make him a regular on your show.
Hey!
Thanks for accepting the add, love the radio show, listen online from Ireland.Best of luck with it, Vandals are more than welcome here anytime.
Best wishes
Donal
it was awesome getting to talk to you at the Indie 103.1 booth before the show. I have been hoping to meet you for some time. You have inspired me in my bass playing and your legal show is awesome too. I listen every week. The Vandals also were amazing if I must say. But to me, the highlight of the whole show was meeting you.
