Founded in 1988 Toronto’s Barenaked Ladies have recorded ten studio albums, a live album, and released a greatest hits package to great acclaim in their 20-year existence. The 14 million plus selling band most recently released a pair of albums on their own Desperation Records label titled Barenaked Ladies Are Me and Barenaked Ladies Are Men in the fall of 2006 and spring of 2007 respectively as well as Juno-nominated children’s album called SNACKTIME! in May of 2008.
Barenaked Ladies carved a niche amongst music fans with such classic songs as “One Week”, “Pinch Me”, and “If I Had $1000000”. Along the way, they have developed a fanatical fan base that’s second to none in contemporary music today. Their penchant for the road combined with the ability to engage the audience in ways other bands can only dream about make Barenaked Ladies one of North America’s best-loved live acts.
The band members - Ed Robertson, Kevin Hearn, Jim Creeggan and Tyler Stewart - all hail from the Toronto/Scarborough area and met one another either at music camp, music school or just playing music in Toronto.
Barenaked Ladies continue to carve their path in the music industry playing sold out shows 20 years into the their existence and blazing new trails in terms of giving back to their community and the environment. Their tour bus runs on bio-diesel fuel and they work closely with greening companies such as Reverb to offer their fans a chance to do something for the environment while attending their concerts. The band are set to enter the studio to begin work on their eleventh album, they are putting the finishing touches on a boxed set planned for a 2009 release and also aim to tour in the fall or winter of 2009.

GOOD MORNING! Hahaha. I woke up for no reason at about 5 am because someone drove through my apartment blaring one of your songs! I kind of just sat up and said, "Well. It's 50 times better than what half these people listen to." :) Have a good one! :)

Autumns beautiful magic transforms Summer into Winter. The brilliant colors, the cool breeze, & frosty nights signal excitement of upcoming holidays. Listen to the harmonic laughter of beautiful people, the honk of migrating geese or the purr of happy cat . The Rivoli better get ready, because tonight VEDETTE, Canary Mine and Little Foot Long Foot are coming to party, and bringing all of their party people. Each act is super-pumped to bring you their best set EVER, and we can't wait to see you there! If you miss out, then you'll be one of those sucky "I missed out people", and someone will play a sad, farty old tuba song in your honour... Don't be like that. This one's definitely gonna be a party, and you won't believe what's in store for you. So c'mon by the Rivoli tonight! 334 Queen Street West (which is basically at Queen & Spadina.)
I find it odd that U2 is getting all the attention for playing at the 20th anniversary of the wall coming down in Germany. For me, it would be far more interesting (and appropriate) if Einstürzende Neubauten played. They could cover a Scorpions song. Someone get me Hasselhoff on the phone!
