First formed in September 1996 by two Anthropology lecturers at University of East London, the band has gone from strength to strength being a very audible addition to many events and protests across London and the South East over the last ten years, and has spawned at least two other bands.
As a well established band we have seen over the years a HUGE number of both players and mestres (thats the guy (or gal) up the front running round like an idiot frantically blowing whistle and waving their hands about), but none have been as instrumental as Fred T., one of the oldest members, creator of at least six other samba bloco's and trustee at the world famous London School of Samba.
Over the years we have been involved in many and varied events and interesting situations, played on beaches and benches, Masquerade and Moulin Rouge, we've chased Alice down the rabbit hole and come out the other side smiling, occupied a university, fought for justice, equality and chocolate biscuits, marched through rain and snow, and welcome the sun each year at Stonehenge by order of King Arthur himself. Infact, it would probably be easier to say what we haven't done...

Mackenzie and Ricky are getting married in May. How have you been doing? We are going Saturday and start looking at dresses. They didn't give me much notice but thats Mackenzie, right? LOL Oh hey! Hi there,here Jurgi Revolucion informing people about what we could do NEXT SUNDAY 13th to improve the health of London's conciousnes and rise our voice after Cuban Solidarity campaign presence has being removed from a well known anti-racist festival next sunday AT FINSBURY PARK.I have to tell you that we(a latin reggae band) manage to get a spot in another stage(underground) in the Rise and that we are playing at 12 a.m. and going to give some of the money to the Cuban solidarity campaign .WE ALL ARE coordinating some flyering and spontaneous protest .I think the best thing to do is to have a small chaotic parade inside the park with acoustic instruments and banners and tell the people what kind of example has been CUBA for the entire human race(anti-racist,equalitarian-solidarian).Pass the word to people you know,tell them to bring instruments ,t-shirts ,banners,.... or to come dressed as CHE if you like.Hasta la VICTORIA siempre !!!! RISE RESPECT
