JAMES FAGAN
Despite being an award-winning performer and recording artist, and having toured the worlds' most prestigious folk stages many times with Nancy Kerr, Andy Irvine, Cara Dillon, Martin Simpson, Liz Doherty and The Fagans; James has somehow never found the right time to play a truly solo gig.
So... he's coming to our place. Blimey!
BARLEY FOLK is a new venue for folk, traditional and acoustic music at The Barley Sheaf, Liskeard, Cornwall.
The Barley Sheaf in Church Street has a rich history as Liskeard's most bohemian pub and one of Cornwall's leading live music venues. The Barley's unique ambience and off Parade location has made it popular with locals, musicians and students alike.
Since taking over as landlord of the Barley Sheaf in April 2005, seasoned entertainer Gary Swift, aka Swifty, has striven to enhance the live music experience. Swifty's partner Emma Hill is also an experienced musician, teaching drums and playing with indie rock trio The Hulas.
Swifty and Emma
BARLEY FOLK is located in the recently refurbished upstairs function room, a wonderfully atmospheric space of wood and stone in the oldest part of the building. Performers and audiences can expect to find an attention to quality of sound and lighting unparalleled among Cornwall's regular folk venues.
Swifty's Barley Folk henchperson is Steve Hunt (half of Corncrow - Barley Folk's resident opening act) who will compere the events and do his level best to keep everyone happy!
