Possibly the most contemporary Celtic band in Australia, The Barleyshakes by equal measures regularly offend and inspire the traditional Irish players of the scene. This band is often found touring the country at the best of Australian festivals and have worked extensively at international venues.
Having worked since the early 90's the 'Shakes have emerged as a highly evolved organism, both cultured and wild. Give The Barleyshakes a line, they'll cut it to shreds and stick it back together again like a Picasso - brilliant for all the reasons you never thought could be.
Here's a band that needs to be heard and if you can, seen!
If you have a band and would like to work in western central Massachusetts, I may be able to help book you. I started NC Booking back in '89 when I was booking a few bands from Scotland and Ireland. Now, 20 years later, I'm still booking great roots music acts. To find out more, visit http://northamptoncommunity.ning.com where you can REGISTER. Thanks!
I'm only after taking a closer look at your page now. Alan, yourself and myself used to bump into each other a bit way back. Hard at it still I see, Good Man and all the best to ya!
Hey Al, good to know Hamish gave you the swerve. That was only because the licensing branch put the noise-o-meter on him and got a reading of 7 million decibels, fined him $765 and told him he wasn't welcome. On top of all that, you know, he refused to play "Hurricane". Hyuk hyuk hyuk. Looking forward to summertime...oh sweet Jesus Mary Mother of God let it shine.
The new album, Mansions Of Gold is out now!.... It's a raw rootsy affair with 11 new songs including the singles Women Around Here, 45 and Sweet Angel.
CD's are also available mail order from theracketeers. com From April the album will be out in record shops in Germany on Cannery Row Records and by then it will also be available digitally from the usual outlets such as iTunes, Amazon etc...
