   BarnardZineLibrary's Blurbs
About me:

This is the Zine Collection of the Barnard College Library. Barnard's zines are primarily in the area of women's studies, featuring personal and political publications on activism, anarchism, body image, feminism, gender, parenting, queer community, riot grrrl, sexual assault, and other topics. They are created by women of color and NYC and other urban women. The term "woman" applies to anyone who self-identifies as such.

Got a zine you think we should add to our collection? Leave us a message or email the the Zine Librarian.

Who I'd like to meet:
Zine publishers, zine librarians, zine aficionados, NYC activists and independent media makers.

I am not here to be friends with book publishers and authors promoting their books (unless they were into zines first) or record labels. I will not accept friend invitations from people who don't mention zines or libraries on their site, unless they send me a note with the reason why they want to be friends. Same goes for people whose profile is private.

In case anyone cares, I freakin' hate when people's profiles take forever to download because of all the media on them or have music playing by default.

Hi Jenna,

I wanted Radical Reference to know about the "Cup by Cup for a Greener ALA" campaign. Please share this information with your friends and colleagues.

The Task Force on the Environment of the Social Responsibilities Round Table (TFOE-SRRT) wants conference goers to bring their favorite traveling mugs and water bottles in support of efforts encouraging the American Library Association (ALA) to reduce its carbon footprint. TFOE will launch this event at the upcoming ALA 2008 Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia from January 11-14, 2008. The title of this campaign is “Cup by Cup for a Greener ALA.” The campaign will show that ALA members are ready to make lifestyle changes for sustainable conferences and to protect the health of the Earth.

To read about the whole campaign visit the ALA Midwinter wiki at http://wikis.ala.org/midwinter2008/index.php/Cup_by_Cup

Peace and Love,
Monika

Greetings,

Thanks for adding us. Your support is much appreciated.

What do you think of these newly discovered crime scene photos (viewed at Abu-Jamal-News.com)?

I have been personally contacting every mainstream media person I could find and still the only place that has published the actual photo is the national Black newspaper, The SF Bay View:

http://www.sfbayview.com/News/Main/Color_of_law_Photos_bolster_claims_of_Mumia_s_innocence_and_unfair_trial.html

This just the latest episode in a long history of corporate media bias towards Mumia and other political prisoners.

In Solidarity,
Hans
