| About Barnes Bluegrass |
The Barnes Bluegrass Fest is held at the Mercer County Fairgrounds every Labor Day Weekend. Join us for a fun-filled weekend of music. We've got great bands lined up for the main stage, you can participate in our music workshops or just hang out and jam.
The 2007 Festival will mark our 35th anniversary, help us celebrate in Aledo August 31-September 2, 2007.
In 1972, Jim and Eleanor Barnes began their adventure and started their first Bluegrass Music Festival. The festival is the oldest active festival in the state of Illinois.
Until recently, the Barnes Family Band, the Bluegrass Redheads, opened and closed every show. And while time constraints prevent them from playing on stage together, you'll still find them jamming around the campfire.
