EVERY MONDAY Upstairs Room The Shaw Inn Racecommon Rd Barnsley

8pm - 9pm Trad music session with house band String Theory - Bring an instrument and join in BEGINNERS WELCOME
9pm - closing - Singers and musicians
Everyone welcome. trad/contemporary folk, blues, original material, covers - anything goes as long as it's acoustic as there's no p.a. (background noise isn't a problem)
We use the singaround format - people perform one song/tune at a time from where they are sat. You usually get about 3 songs / tunes in, unless it's a guest night (check listings) when we try to get round everyone.
Booking Policy - Please note we only put on paid guests on average about every 6 weeks - that's all we can afford. These tend to be people we already know of, or who have already come to the Shaw as a floor performer, which you are very welcome to do. Sorry, but we just don't have the resources to reply to everyone that asks us for a booking via myspace/email!

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

Goodest of good days there, cats and kittens - and many thanks for allowing the burnin' vermin of CrackTown into your illustrious fold of showbiz chums. We trawl our net across much of t'North, so 'appen we'll swing by some night and throw some of our liberalbilly tat down for "y'all" (bit of vernacular to prove our alt.country credentials). Keep it gangsta, won't you? CrackTown
well, it has been a long and winding road, and an even longer time coming, but my debut CD, I Remember, is FINALLY HERE!!! YAY!!!!!
to celebrate, American HeartBeat Records(tm) has arranged a FREE DOWNLOAD of Now Is The Time in exchange for a valid email address. Now Is The Time is a brand new, upbeat song I wrote: we are living in turbulent times. suddenly it is okay to be greedy and heartless? no way! a song of hope for our future, a new vision of America and the world.
we have a bunch of exciting things planned to kick this whole thing off, and we need to get a better picture of who our friends are, so the FREE DOWNLOAD form will ask you a few questions, like, what is your country and nearest major city. it all takes maybe 15 seconds.
anyhoo, the FREE DOWNLOAD, and the FUN, begins at www.JAETCHISON.com
I look forward to getting to know you a little better, and I thank you SO VERY MUCH for your friendship and support!
please tell your friends about JAETCHISON.com, and ask them to sign up for the email list, too! FUN things are coming up!!
