My name is Patrick Burke. I have been out of work for nearly seven months. I have tried on numerous occasions to obtain a position within Yahoo, without success. I have over 25 years experience in the IT industry, establishing a wide array of skills I believe are valuable to the organization.
As you can see by my resume below, I do not jump from job to job. I'm not seeking any job. I'm seeking a position with an established company where I may continue my career. I have found Yahoo! is that organization.
I did visit the Burbank location, and found the campus delightful. This is the type of environment I am seeking. Speaking with the receptionist, I was informed Yahoo does not accept applications in person, nor do they offer interviews without an appointment.
I truly believe one needs to enjoy their working environment, as much as the work one is hired for. I can tell you I am a team player, self-motivated, and an excellent communicator. Like anyone else, I also have my faults. At times, I take on too many projects. There are occasions my time management is not the best. I also speak my mind, and question things, mainly, "why." When there is an issue, I stay until it is resolved.
This does not make me a bad employee or person, simply human. I make mistakes. I learn from them and move on. I believe a person who does not make mistakes, or acknowledge they make mistakes, can never grow professionally or personally. I believe the job should be fun. This makes a person more productive, and allows them the freedom to think creatively. I made friends with a few people at Yahoo, who shared with me how much they enjoy working for Yahoo, and how well Yahoo cares for them. I can see they truly look forward coming to work. At the end of the day, they are still smiling. This tells volumes about the organization.
As I shared, I have been without a job for nearly 7 months. During this time my wife had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She is recovering, cancer free, and having reconstruction surgery this month. I share this with you not for sympathy, but the fact we are unable to continue to pay for our health coverage. I need to go back to work, and I need to find a position immediately.
I respect your hiring process, however, I must ask that we cut through the proverbial "red tape", and allow me to interview for a position that will be a good fit and benefit for both Yahoo and myself.
The following is my resume. I am available any time for an interview at your Burbank campus.
Thank you;
I am looking forward to speaking with your representative.
