Barrio Boys will be posting their full length movie "Barrio Boys." It's a full length of 21 minutes, broken into scenes. It's the very true story of how an ex-Menudo member launches a new Oi! Boy Band sensation! Stars Tony El Guapo & Greg Rivera in the roles of their lives! Figuratively and literrally!
Barrio Boys are not to be confused with the 90's Nuyorican megastars Barrio Boyzz. the Boyzz sold countless records. You can count the number of records the Boys have sold. Due to the consumer confusion, the Barrio Boys enlisted the support of P.R. filmmaker Anthony Torres to fashion a "Purple Rain" for them. In case you're not familiar with "Purple Rain," that was a mid-1980's drama starring Prince and the Revolution with a soundtrack of the same name. The movie explained the mystery that is Prince, and the music and movie combined created a perfect storm of ticket and vinyl sales.
Now, the Barrio Boys need their story to be heard for once and all. They allowed writer and director Anthony Torres to observe and expand on their story. Characters have been collapsed. Storylines dispensed with. Somethings are invented. Though some might critique this as a fake piece, the Barrio Boys feels the fake stuff enhances the truths of their reality. Autobiography can become auto-boring if you leave it on autopilot.
Yes, Tony El Guapo is reluctant to acknowledge his ties with Menudo. It was so long ago... Today is super cool, tomorrow is super cooler! He extends love and support to the new crop of little latino lover wannabes.
