About me:
Barry FC is a democratic 'breakaway' fans' football club formed by supporters of Barry Town AFC in spring 2005.
The club plays at Jenner Park, Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan Premier League, wearing a green home strip, with a yellow and blue change kit (traditional Barry footballing colours).
Known as 'The Linnets' (a name which embraces the town's footballing past), Barry FC is very much a club with its eyes on the future, and its supporters are currently working to lay the groundwork of a successful and thriving community club.
Among our off-field events, we run a successful weekly lottery draw, with prizes often of £1000 and over. All profits are then pumped back in to Barry FC - which is exactly how it should be. Around £5000 has been made from this scheme in its first year, with a similar amount being claimed in prize money by various players and supporters.
In our first season functioning as a stand-alone football club (the organisation previously operated as 'Barry Town Supporters' Club'), the Linnets finished in a respectable top-half position, but the club has ambition to progress and hope its players and supporters will share this goal.
By making the club all-inclusive, fans play an integral role at Barry FC. They not only help fund the side, but do everything from organising matchdays to writing programmes and press releases. Coach travel has been laid on by supporters to our furthest away fixtures, while a fan-sponsored Player of the Year evening was attended and enjoyed by many at the close of last season.
Now, as the 2006-07 campaign begins, the Linnets look to take some further steps on the long road that lies ahead.
Joining the Barry FC community this season are three new 'Mini Linnets' youth sides: the under 14s, managed by Haydn Stait, and the under 8s A and B teams, overseen by Dave O' Sullivan and Alan Smith.
Finally, we are proud that a Barry FC player has been selected for a Vale of Glamogan representative side at under 8 level - which hopefully marks the start of our club as a developmental organisation
More information on the club can be found at www.forzabarry.co.uk, and on the club's official forum here
Any support from you would be appreciated, be it in coming to a match, buying a lottery ticket, or just adding us - it all helps, and will help us raise awareness of the club and what we're trying to achieve. Thanks.
Cracking game 2day i thought lads, 2 teams very evenly matched and probably a fair result in the end!
Cant wait to see you down our place!
St Carlos :)
Hi, Thanks for adding me!
Drop back in from time to time and please send my page to anyone who you think might be interested? I'm just in the process of adding all my football stuff and sorting out my page...I'm slowly getting there...so i'd appreciate it greatly if you kept me in your top friends or send out a bulletin about my site?
Thank you very much for the add but more so for wishing Gaz all the best. He is indeed a true true fan of this beautiful game, one of the most dedicated there is. We're all hoping and praying he makes as full a recovery as it possible.
On a football note, is this team here a breakaway from the old Barry Town FC? What happened if so!?
Anyway, cheers chaps and good luck for the rest of the season!!
Thanks for adding me, an exiled Jack now up in Glasgow watching Glasgow Celtic. Best wishes for the season, and of course apart from being Welsh I love the fact you play in Green & White.
Well i think that i know our 2nd game of the season boys, we are playing Llantwit on Sep 7th, which is a thursday, bit of an odd day for so early in the season but never mind!
Hiya lads, tis St Carlos lol.
Just wondering if you knew who your first game of the season was against because I haven't got a clue about St Athan's 1st match.
