Sounds Like
all of the above (sort of)- okay, I get "early Elton John" a lot, a whole lot - too much, really - also James Taylor, Will Oldham, and Natalie Merchant once in a while
Soulful, moody music performed live on piano. I haven't met with much success as a singer/songwriter. Columbia records contacted me when I was performing in Seattle, but decided that I needed to develop a band sound. I never really liked the "band sound," though. I tell lots of stories and sing from my heart, make people cry sometimes, try to make them laugh between songs. I keep going because of the people who have said "please don't stop making music." I sometimes think how little it has taken for me to believe in myself. All it takes is for a stranger to say "did you really write all of these songs?" That's what has made me give up ideas of any career but music and live in the hinterland of open mics and coffee shop shows from Seattle to North Carolina and finally, here, to Austin. My family worries about me - many people must have laughed at me - some must be jealous to see someone following their dream into the world of poverty, all for the love of music. I knew at the age of 4 that I was a musician. I picked out a Beatles tune on my multicolored xylophone, knowing that I didn't have all of the notes that I needed to perform it correctly. I grew up in a trailor on a hilltop in the mountains of N.C., playing songs by ear on a horrid Sears organ, desperately hoping to one day have a piano. I snuck and took lessons when I was in highschool and my grandmother eventually insisted that I have her piano. My father and uncle and brother moved it into the trailor, having to tear down a wall to get it into my room. I then had the correct instrument to practice on. I went to college soon after, though, and had to go to the practice rooms to practice. I eventually gave up on learning to read music when I was 23. I never was very good at it, so I started composing my own pieces on a keyboard that my parents bought me for christmas, putting themselves in debt. I took that keyboard to Seattle and started this whole life of performing. I made a CD called Monastery, the one that Columbia Records noticed. I then floundered in the Seattle rain for a few years and eventually moved back to North Carolina. I got stuck in that artistically deprived state for 4 years and escaped to The Music Capital of the World, Austin, where people don't seem to buy CDs too much. I got on NPR, though, and am now hoping to get a live show on TV. Wish me luck:)

How's the new year working out for you so far? Hopefully our downloader is working on myspace now and you can download Amoree for free. Have a nice week and thank you so much for your support.
Lots of love and best wishes, Saving Arcadia
P.S. The rest of our album is available on iTunes, Amazon.com, Rahpsody or Napster.
Hey hope your summer is going great. We are trying to raise funds to record our next album in Spring of 2010 and we need your help. If every single friend of ours on Myspace spends only $2 and buys two of our songs on iTunes, not only will we be able to record a new cd for you next year but we will also be able to tour again and bring our music closer to you. :) Thanks again for your support remember our fans are number one and we always comment back personally so drop us a line and tell us how you're doing.
