Barry began djing about 6 years ago as he listened to trance so much he decided he might as well try his hand at mixing it. After trying to produce he began to notice new djing skills that were perhaps lacking from his sets. Through an internet forum he was approached by an electronic music radio station and asked to perform a set on a monthly basis. However after the first set they enjoyed it so much they asked him to do it weekly. Although he never tried to get live gigs its something he will be looking into in the future.
The producing began nearly 2 years ago when he did a music technology course which gave him an insight into the basics of production. Although it only lasted 6 weeks so 90% of the production techniques were not covered. After it he decided to get the tools he had used in the music course and tried producing solely. His first few productions were nothing like he wanted to create but instead of giving up he kept trying until he made something that he liked.
Around May 2006 his track Mystify got support from a few djs and was played on a few internet radio stations, another track followed and the same interest was there. After looking back at the tracks he found major flaws in them and the layout of them didn’t appeal to him. He decided to make new tracks and find a sound that really appealed to him and with a more professional sound. While searching for tracks for his DJ sets he came across O’Callaghan & Kearney - Exactly and new that this was the direction he wanted to take in terms of his production. This new sound was the sound of Discover Records which he aims to achieve in every production.
