About me:

Author. Recovering comic book geek.

My first novel, The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl, was chosen one of the Best Books of 2006 by School Library Journal, and publications like Newsday and USA Today have said some terrific things about it, too. You can visit the book's website here.

My second book, Boy Toy, is out in stores now. Publishers Weekly and Kirkus have both given it starred reviews, and VOYA gave it a 5Q, its highest rating.

My third book, Hero-Type, is in stores now. You can see the cover over to the left and read a sample chapter on my website.

I recommended all your books to my friends. One of those friends happened to be a girl, and needless to say a teenage boy should NOT recommend "Boy Toy" to a teenage girl! keep up the good work, Lyga! I want to see more books on shelves, and soon!

I traveled 35 miles to go to the nearest library that had Hero Type, 'cause last I checked, it was available!
No sooner I get there, it's checked out.

Of course I put it on hold.

    :)

Right now, I have no clue - just applied to a full time Children's Librarian job in Lexington so it is wait and see...even if the stars align and that happens, I may not have a gurantee of going to ALA!

Hope your writing mojo is going well :) Can't wait for Goth Girl...!

I just finished Hero-Type and lemme tell you something! I've never gotten so passionate about a book before! So thank you, Barry Lyga, for opening my eyes to things that are actually important and things that really aren't all too major about our country and how we live.
I loved the book! Again, many thanks for the read!

I just finished "Hero-Type" yesterday (at work, shhh- don't tell!)and it rocked while at the same time poking me in the brain and making me consider things- not too many books do both. Excellent, excellent stuff that I'll be talking up to my teen readers (I'm a 5th to 9th grade school librarian.) Keep up the good work, Fool.
