From January '09 BarrysBlues are no longer associated with The Running Horse

    Nov '08
, for over 12 years I ran "The Running Horse" in the city putting on some of the best acts on the circuit. I then promoted at "The Britannia Boat Club" by The River Trent the boat clubs (there are three) are very well known for putting on acts such as Led Zeppelin, U2, Jethro Tull, John Mayall, John Lee Hooker and many many more in the 60's, 70's & 80's.

As you may have gathered I am once again booking bands at The Running Horse
, the venue has been re-furbished and the bar moved making for a more pleasant environment to have a drink and listen to some good music. I first got into promoting music when I ran my first pub “The Station Hotel” (The Blue House) in Ironbridge, Shropshire in 1974 which I ran for four years. When I left I formed The Ironbridge R&B Club at “The Swan” in 1979 (I believe it’s still going to this day). From there I ran “The Duke At The Station Hotel” in Wellington putting on Live acts five nights a week from there I moved to Nottingham to run “The Gregory” which was a financial disaster and then on to “The Running Horse” where I had my most success. THE HAMSTERS PLAY JIMI HENDRIX, supported by THE HAMSTERS!

Thursday November 4 2010

The guitar, bass and drums trio The Hamsters have long been established as one of our premier live attractions. Although a band in their own right - playing Rock, Blues and Americana - they've also long widely been regarded as the UK's leading interpreters of Jimi Hendrix's music. Tonight, on their Jimi Hendrix 40th Anniversary Memorial Tour, they'll be performing a show of his songs to commemorate his passing 40 years ago in September 1970. The band will 'support' themselves by first playing a short set of their own brand of music, then return for a full Jimi show!

"They’re fabulous: one of Britain's very best live bands" - Bob Harris, Radio 2
"Nobody does the music of Jimi Hendrix better" – The Times
