About me:

My wife and I host a couple of house concerts a year. We look to feature acoustic artists in an intimate setting for a very receptive audience. We normally look to feature artists that play music ranging from folk to blues. A house concert can be a great way for a smaller artist to play somewhere new and make some decent money in the process.

Music Under the Moss now has its own web site. Click here.

Susan and I are very happy to announce that Mike and Ruthy will coming to Music Under the Moss this fall. October 17, 2009 to be exact.

Mike and Ruthy are known by many to be a part of the great band The Mammals. I've mentioned them before in other parts on this web site when I saw them at the 2006 Springfest. When a band is a folk/bluegrass band, but is willing to cover Morphine and Nirvana tunes...they get big music geek points from me. Finally, I actually mentioned them reminding me more of the Strokes at times than a folk/bluegrass band...and that's pretty damn cool.

Though the Mammals have been "hibernating" lately, all the band members have been doing their own musical projects. Mike and Ruthy have since released two CD's together. One to commemorate their marriage (The Honeymoon Agenda), and another to mark the birth of their baby boy Will (Waltz of the Chickadee). Both are a great mix of intimate and refreshing folk music that doesn't feel confined to any musical genre.

Just recently, Mike and Ruthy got to play on stage at Madison Square Garden to help celebrate the 90th birthday of Pete Seeger. They were also listed as an "Editor's Pick" for CD Baby's music discovery podcast. And hell...might as well get it out of the way...they covered the mighty Tom Waits, and you know I'm a sucker for any act that does that.

So this coming fall, we'll have another great evening of music and friendship coming. We'll leave you with a live example of them with the first track off their latest album. We can't wait!

    Hello, MUTM!

Thanks for your comment! As a matter of fact, we are planning a SE tour right now for the first two weeks of Oct that will take us through Georgia. I looked on the map and found out that Atlanta is only 5 1/2 hours away from Panama City.
Would you be interested in hosting a house concert on a week night?

    Peace
    Kailin & BAS
